So she officially DIED on me today. I was playing GTAIV and these two weird lines were on the screen, they kind of looked like this:

You could see thru them but they were right in the center of my screen. I first thought that it may be the game but then I put in Vegas 2 and it was even worse. I turned her off and she hasnt turned back on without the Red Flashing light. This will be my 3rd xbox that has lived and died in my arms. It really just pisses me off, right as I'm really getting into the story on one of the best games ever (GTAIV) she takes a shit on me.

I'm thinking about buying an Xbox Elite in the mean time and selling my other xbox once it comes back from Hell...I mean microsoft.

What do you guys think are the odds of me complaining to Microsoft enough to get an Xbox Elite? Is there a way to upgrade through customer service for a little extra cash? Also if I do get a refurbished/fixed one what are the odds of it having the HDMI outputs available (since mine is one of the older ones without the HDMI possibilites). I know I should be mourning over the death of #3 but all I can think about is getting back to Liberty City!!!

I'm guessing you will get what you get back from Microsoft repair. I don't believe you could get an Elite, let alone one with HDMI unless that is what they have in the refurb pile while shipping.

I Hate to say it, but the Elites can still get the ROD too. The one I sent in a few weeks ago was an Elite.(still not back) It did last alot longer than the others though. The one before that was a core unit made in january 2007. They replaced it with a brand new Arcade unit with HDMI and a free game.(PDZ) I think the only way to go is to have two 360's so you always have a back up. Maybe the new falcon units are better, but I thought that about the Elites to. I just know that if I don't have one, everybody is going to have a real bad day!!!

Good Luck on your next one. This next one I get back will be number 8. Every time I hear another one has failed, the nightmare's start all over again.

Please Microsoft make the pain stop.

So I called microsoft to put in a repair order and they informed that I would have to pay $110 to get it fixed. I asked if the extended warrenty that they issued would cover it and the supervisor said no!!!! If it was the "red ring of death" it would. I asked her what happened to my xbox and she said there was a problem with the internal unit of the xbox and I was like "No Shit". Plus she was a super bit$h about the whole thing.
Before I went and called I headed up to Bestbuy and went ahead and bought a Elite. I'm not sure what I should do about the other one. It work occasionally so I might take it to Gamestop and pray that it works when I try and trade it in! hahaha I'll post about it when I go up their

When my original Xbox 360 Pro console got the RROD I was lucky enough to have a year warranty on it through EBGames/Gamestop so I took it back and they gave me a brand new console complete with all the new swag (free subscription to Xbox Live, Free MS Points, Free PG3 Game, updated console, etc).

Luckily for me, before trade it I had purchased a new Memory Card and got the dying Xbox to cough up my saved games so I wouldn't loose my progress in the games I owned. I had to download my XBLA games again (which are no longer available offline for me).

When I gave the console over to EBGames/Gamestop, they asked me if I had kicked it. I thought that was weird and said no. They then asked me if I wanted too and it felt great!

Yeah its the E 74 problem. I was debating on sending it in and coughing up another $110-$120 bucks since I already bought an Elite (its so much quiter and loads games and stuff super fast!). But now I'm thinking I should send it in and when I get it back try and sell it on eBay or something.

So PSORaine, do you know exactly what the E 74 problem is? I tried asking the American speaking customer service rep and she couldnt tell me.

So after reading through numerous blogs about this problem I have come to a conclusion on how to fix my 3rd xbox. I'm going to commit the number 1 xbox sin........I'm gonna force the "RROD" on her. I read that I guy had the same problem as me, talked to MS Customer Service, and like me they refused to fix it unless I gave them more money. He wraped her up and clogged the fans until she overheated. Two days later he called MS back and they fixed it for him.
THERE IS GREEN LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So after wrapping her in a towel for a couple hours she was burning up!!!!. I turned her off and then turned her back on and guess what.........now she works like a charm! I would sell it on ebay but I dont know how long she will work and I would feel bad for selling her to a stranger. So I'm gonna trade her in to Gamestop and let them worry about the customer.

Another thing, when I called MS customer support I told the person who I was talking to that my xbox had worked, then E74, then worked, and then E74. So technically I could tell them it started working again and then had the RROD IF they questioned me. But now she works so well see how it goes.
