The first episodic RPG-Adventure game to grace Xbox LIVE Arcade, Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is the result of a collaboration between Hothead Games and Penny Arcade. The first episode sends players to a deranged 1920s comic-book-meets-pulp-horror universe called New Arcadia. Armed with unconventional weaponry, players join forces with Gabe and Tycho of the Startling Developments Detective Agency to make war on bizarre enemies and solve the mysteries hidden deep in the sinister heart of New Arcadia.
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One offers players the ability to design their own customizable character, a dynamic turn-based combat system and the ability to transfer your customized characters stats and inventories to future episodes, or start fresh with each episode. Fans of Penny Arcade will appreciate the authenticity of the game, which features distinctive artwork and characters designed by Mike Gabe Krahulik and a story and dialogue written by Jerry Tycho Holkins.
Developed by Hothead Games, Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One will be available worldwide (with the exception of Korea) for 1600 Microsoft Points and is rated M for Mature by the ESRB for all platforms. Penny Arcade game this week on XBLA
05/20/08 9:37 am | #1
The long-awaited Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade this week. The game will be available on Wednesday at 4:00 a.m. EST for 1600 Microsoft points. The game looks to have promise, but the 1600 point price tag makes this very pricey, especially with the GTA IV hangover still out there.

I don't understand the draw of this game, or why they are charging 1600 MPs for it.

If it cost twice as much as a regular arcade game I want 400 achievement points NO EXCUSES! (I hear it's a fun game though)

Personally, I enjoy PA's comics a lot, though I think they are way more popular than the actual content deserves. But whatever, I'm glad they are successful!
Who here has this game already? Is it good?
A semi-traditional adventure/RPG with turn-base combat and a customizable character, on top of their sense of humour, sounds pretty good to me.
As long as it's decently fun and can provide a good amount of playtime, I won't mind paying $20.
Shee-oot, I'd actually have forked over 1600 BS points for CV:SotN and even Geo Wars, given how much time I have blown in 'em.

If they are making these into episodes than I hope they ALL aren't 1600 points a peice.....probably will though.
I "MIGHT" buy it...I dont know..Does anyone know if they achievements have been released yet? I'm interested in seeing what they are before I fork over the points. It would be cool if you could play co-op through out the game with another friend that has it.
Anywho...thats why I think, lol

I have bought the full version of Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode One and I'm enjoying it. Never really read the web comic or anything, but while I was writing about it over the past few weeks over at XboxLiveArcade.com it actually got me interested. With details being released and multiple video trailers, I figured I'd give it a shot and well... it's really good.
1600 MS Points ($20 USD) for a 7-10 hour Adventure/RPG title isn't that bad. There are a lot of retail games with less substance than this out there selling for $60+ USD.
