That's most definitely not what Hektic said. It was a generalization about the state of the forum six months ago.
I can attest to it. It's not anyone in particular that has caused the change, but half a year ago, there were never any disagreements of the magnitude or degree of ferocity we get now. I can't think of a single altercation I was aware of before then.
I haven't been here all that long, but I have seen phases of poor behavior come and go. Raine says something in the next post about the growing populace. I agree with that totally.
I'm not saying new members are bad, or that they are catalysts for hostility. On the contrary, we have had many new members that come here and feel right at home. They add to the site, and do their best to make this site richer!
That being said, if you add 10 members, you add 10 different personalities and opinion sets. If you add 200? That is really the reason that I voted against becoming an international site.
All I think this recent trend is, is what I liken to growing pains. That's good and bad. Growing membership and member activity is great, but there are consequences as well.
Back when there were less than half the active forum members, it was easy to solve a dispute. It's quite easier to solve problems in a living room than it is to solve a problem at a stadium.
