It absolutely is. If you don't see the difference between making a post asking people to stop flaming people... to allow others to have different opinions... to allow them to STATE their opinions... and when there is a disagreement between 2 people not to take ONE persons side when both are clearly wrong... in a way that is not name calling or insulting VS what has been happening when someone says something someone else doesn't like, and they get into it, then later on someone comes in and says "cry cry cry, you made (insert name here) leave, you're an asshole" then 5 more people coming on 2 days later cussing out that person...

We don't take sides when things escalate, we look for the instigator and politely ask them to tone it down if necessary. When we have to go back to the same people time and time again because of multiple complaints or repeated violations of our policies, then action has to be taken.

Quote by PSORaine:

Well to be honest, if you can't see a difference between those things then I'd say you aren't looking at things as objectively as you claim you do... and you're not calling things correctly whether you see them that way or not. But I think you know that already. You are just a person, regardless of what color your name is on the site.

You do realize that this paragraph basically contradicts everything you just wrote above about flaming people and respecting their opinions...

Quote by PSORaine:

Well, Z, that's where we differ. I would punish the person who reacts, rather than the instigator. That's kind of what I was saying. Someone can be really irritating and annoying, but if they aren't swearing, calling names, or making personal attacks at all, it's the person who DOES make personal attacks who should be talked to.

I don't view what I wrote as disrespect for your opinion OR flaming you, I'm sorry if you see it that way, but I think what I wrote is just MY opinion, which I'm simply defending my right to state.

Well now, since this entire post is about voicing opinions, from what I have gathered, I feel the need to voice mine. I have tried to stay quiet on the subject matter, ignoring most of what has seemed to become an everyday occurrence on here, as it is not my place to police the forums, but I will simply bite my tongue off if I do not say my peace now.

That response has to be one of the most ridiculous arguments I have ever read. If there were no one to "instigate" the incident in the first place, then there would have never been an incident to speak of. Or is it simply because most of your friends are, more often than not, as of late, the instigator in most of the petty squabbles I seem to be wasting my time reading on here?

I have been a member on here for two years now, and, speaking strictly as a member, I have never seen so many arguments and stupid posts as within the last four to six months. Certainly their have been disagreements, there will always be disagreements, but there was a certain level of respect between all members of our community; disagreements were discussed civilly in a thread, as is the point of forums. If you believe that forums should stand for people who are irritating and annoying, alienating members for no other reason than to be an idiot, then by all means, join another forum, because I have never seen that here until late.

I must agree with you that those who leave must be held personally responsible for that decision; someone should not stop going to a forum they enjoy simply because another member was being an ass, for lack of a better term. When I have a disagreement with another member, I say my piece, do not insult them, and be on my way, but etiquette is not always tantamount in a forum-goers mind. Sympathy should not try to be garnered by announcing to everyone you possibly can that you are leaving, and then when you hear what you want to hear from enough people, then decide 'No, now I'm going to stay.' Disagreements will occur, and the point of a forum, to me, is discuss these disagreements in these little conversations called Threads. Quite honestly, if someone really pisses me off, I just completely ignore them. I'm an easy going guy, and if you have pissed me off that much, then I get my point across by simply by not even acknowledging their presence, that is quite enough for me.

I certainly cannot speak for Z, and Z I apologize if I am stepping on your toes with this post, as I simply had to say my piece, but I known him to be, if nothing else, absolutely fair in these matters, so much so that it sometimes seems as if he is sticking up for the members that the rest of the forum is ready to lynch, all, as far as I can tell, in a good-natured manner, in order to promote discussion, not conflict. However conflict seems to be the only thing some of the "newer" members advocate, and to me this is where Z's patience has been infinite. Mine is not. In other forums I have been on, I have seen members perma-banned for far less than some new members get away with here, however XbA is not like any forum I have ever been on, which is what makes it great. The Mods and Admins encourage members to work out their disagreements on their own, and only step in when absolutely necessary.

I believe I have said my piece, and will not rattle on any longer. To long time members of the forum that I have not seen on here nearly as much due to new "circumstances", I encourage you to come back, and do not let the stupidity of a few ruin it for you. To those newer members to who I am referring to, I cannot tell you what to and what not to do, but I think that the entire forum would benefit if you were to tone it down a little.

I can't say I agree with what you are saying, since you just said it was about people saying they are going to leave over a squabble.

I've done it before, when me and Captain got into it but now things are resolved and it's over, we don't dwell on what happened and we don't speak to each other in any negitive ways. That was during a time when no matter what you said you got "flamed" for being in disagreement with anyone's opinion.

I think some people on here just can't let it go, just because you don't like about what someone says you shouldn't have to annouce it to the whole board. You said we're real people with feelings but then later you say this is just an INTERNET FORUM like it doesn't matter, if I take that wrong I'm sorry. I know some things people talk about on this forum they probably shouldn't but you can always bite your tongue and move on and just not worry about it. Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we all have the freedom of speach thing going on. But just because you can say something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

This message board is supposed to be XBOX oriented and when a few certain interesting things arise then you can talk about that also that happens in your daily life. Everything can't be XBOX but not everything you do in your life should be posted on this thread, and no I'm not speaking of any one specific person on this site either. I just think in the end, if you don't have something nice to say, then don't say it at all. I can't say I haven't done this, because it really ticks me off when new people come in and make hundreds of ridiculous threads in a matter of 10 minutes and they always seem to be so damn cocky you can't ask them to stop or they just make more.

you made a few good points but what you said above that this was because of the whole leaving thing, then i can't say much in that sense because i've done it and so have a few other people on here
