The persistent online shooter enters a brave new phase.
Huxley, a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter being developed by Webzen, will enter its closed beta testing phase next month.
First announced in 2005, Huxley is set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans have mutated and split into two separate and opposing races. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 3 and is planned for PC and Xbox 360.
Beginning Aug. 28, visitors to the Webzen Web site can sign up for the five-day beta, and the first 999 people to sign up will get the chance to play Huxley game modes such as team deathmatch, "radar domination," and quest.
Webzen said it has been conducting focus group tests on the game since June and that September's closed beta will be the first in a series of user tests.
Although no specific release date was announced Wednesday, the Huxley section of Webzen's Web site says the game is still scheduled to be released "within 2007."
