Gamerscore cheaters getting zapped

The Xbox police detectives are finally out and about taking down the Gamerscore cheaters that are using game saves and violating the Xbox LIVE terms of service. According to Major Nelson, Microsoft finally took action yesterday on the worst offenders of cheating and gamesaves, by resetting their score to zero, preventing them from re-acquiring any of the previous achievements and labeling their account as a cheater.

Things take time to implement, so I am glad to see action finally getting taken. My guess is that we will see a lot more of this in the coming weeks once MS gets the process perfected.

One of the first to get hammered was the venerable StripClubDJ. Check out their Xbox.com profile, and their newly earned Cheater's Brand.

One of my friends had theirs reset. I think it was absolute horse sh!t. He put alot of time and effort into his account and all for what. For microsoft to F*ck him in the long run. If mine gets reset no more xbox for me....Ive had my account for over 5 years and for them to do stuff like this I thinks its a little ridiculous.

According to what I have seen, they are looking for very specific things to indicate cheating when it comes to resetting the scores. If your friend had a high score and had done and game saving in the past then they could very well have been pinched.

Microsoft put out a warning several months ago that they would be taking this action and gave people a chance to stop doing it. So anyone that didn't heed the warnings have only themselves to blame unfortunately...

I never recieved a message from Microsoft about this...If you are referring to "Major Nelson" he is not Microsoft. I would have had to visit his horrible website to have seen this warning...unless you are speaking of one I am unaware of.

It was well publicized in all Xbox 360 communities and on most forums and news sites. It originated from Major Nelson, but we posted it on here last October...

But for something as important as this you would expect MS to release it on their front page or send a message directly to your account as an annoucement.

Regardless of whether or not there was a warning, if your friend was game saving he had this coming. I don't see how you can get worked up about getting caught. By cheating he helped ruin the gamerscore experience for everyone else. A cheater doesn't deserve a warning, only a ban.

In any legal system ignorance of the law is not an excuse. If he didn't know they were about to crack down, it doesn't matter.

Possibly, but from their point of view they have a bunch of people that are abusing the system and Terms of the Live agreement. I remember that it was a pretty big deal when that info hit last year in almost every forum I saw.

It would be like the Cops notifying every bar where they were putting up their Drunk Driving checkpoints. Whether you like or dislike MajorNelson, the word was spread and many people were aware of it.

I wouldn't expect you to be pinched, as most people they are targeting are well into the 200K range and have blatantly thumbed their nose at MS.

That is absolutley awesome; I've been waiting for this to come for a long time. Cheaters beware!!! The majority of us put way too much work into our gamerscore to be outshined by cheaters!
