That's right, so all of you aspiring young DJs can try your hand and mixing up some beats. That...sounds like it could be fun...I thought disc scratching went out with the 90's, but I guess Activision is bringing it back! At any rate, love it or hate it, you will at least have to walk past it in the store sometime this year. Big Christmas gift of '09? Anyone?

DJ Hero Confirmed

Alright, so either your best hope, or your worst fear, has been realized. In a recent interview, it seems that Bobby Kotick, Chief of Activision Blizzard, has inadvertently confirmed a rumor that DJ Hero is soon to be released. The interview, which can be seen here, was done by CNBC. In it, Kotick can be quoted as saying "we have this product called DJ Hero coming out later this year, which is a turntable that you actually can play competitively and spin discs and mix songs."

This will definitely have some niche genre appeal, since a lot of core gamers are also into types of music that this could emulate. The Beatmania games blew up all over the place.
But I don't see this having quite the inherent casual gamer appeal that made Guitar Hero do so much better than anyone expected. It will take some major marketing muscle to get the average Wal-Mart shopper to shell out for another $90+ fake instrument game for their console.
And what kind of faces are you going to pay to put on the boxes? Could Paul Oakenfold sell a million copies of a game?

I'd buy it if DJ Starscream (aka Sid from Slipknot) is in it.

Being a DJ myself, I am actually quite interested to see what they do with this game. I have been watching the rumors for quite a while on it, and I hope they do it well.
I wonder if MTV is going to work one also, just can't seem to nail down what they would call it to go along with the Rock Band name.
I thought I had read somewhere that (MC) Hammer was involved in this, but not 100% certain he was or not, just rumors.
