Awkward

This is weird. My xbox red ringed on me like a month ago, and i called xbox twice to get it replaced, but due to their fuck ups i still have haven't received the xbox to ship it out. However yesterday, I decided I'd give it a go with a movie just to see if anything would happen, and it worked! It hadn't for a while. So then I decided to see if any of my games would work ( none of them did) and they do! How and why? I'm happy that it happened but seriously, wtf!

About your box issue, when mine went out last summer I had to buy a box for it, did they tell you they were sending you one? Anyway, I've heard of this before but I've never really had any kind of answer for it.

yeah, i'm still on my first but that happened to me too if i remember correctly. started working again right before i got the casket. sent it in just to be on the safe side though, and haven't had a problem with it since.
does your xbox get good air flow? is it sitting near a window, possibly in direct sunlight at certain times? friend of mine had his RR a few years ago because it was in front of a window. he eventually moved it and it works fine now.

who me?? ru talking to me?? oh, hai! my box gets good air flow, even tried fans on it, (to keep my box cool and all) and i never keep my box in direct sunlight. after my 9th box, ms put me on a frequent "box abuser?" list and they started giving me really quick service, (overnight air shipping and all), but all in all i have only lost 2(?) in the last 18 months(?) so, in my opinion, they build a much better box now.

@Chase: I've heard of this before, but I've never heard of the "remission" lasting longer than a month...
Me too, same goes for the "towel trick".
My E74'd console acually works fine for a little while after towelling it, but then it starts to get graphical errors (vertical scan lines that look like Matrix code) and then bricks into an E74 shortly after.

According to Evol, they refuse to send coffins anymore when you CALL, BUT if you request a repair through xbox.com, you can request one and you don't have to pay for it. I am just waiting for $1oo extra dollars so I can send mine in!!!!
Wow, that's gay. I'll remember that next time my Xbox dies though, thanks.

Yeah despite it being able to play again, I'm still going to send it in. Called yesterday, expecting the box soon. Lets hope this one has a longer life span.
