Kotaku is reporting that the Fall update for the Xbox 360 may actually include a parental timer. As of this write-up it is just a rumor, but a timer to limit the amount of time kids spend playing video games as opposed to uhm...reading and playing outside? Well, I guess that's a good thing. Kids need exercise in the crucial growing point of their lives. A lot of responses I'm hearing are negative about the thoughts of a timer. Oh well.
Anyways, more info about the timer. It is said it will be password protected (an obvious thing or else little kids could just turn off the timer). Different sources have different info about how the timer will work. Some say it will turn the console off once the time is up for that play session, others say it actually clocks the time the child is playing games. The former seems more likely to me. Or perhaps it can do both? Who knows.
