Gears 3 "Raam's Shadow" Campaign DLC Announced
What more could you ask for than more Gears multiplayer action with the release of the Horde Command Pack earlier this week? How about some new campaign DLC? That's right, next month will mark the release of "Raam's Shadow", a new DLC pack for Gears 3 that promises "more than three hours of gameplay". Along with that comes six new multiplayer characters, a new set of weapon skins (called Chocolate), and of course an additional 250 achievement points to aggravate all those completionists out there. Which, let's be frank, if you're so much of a completionist that you have Seriously 3.0, then you should have no problem with these.
Apparently, this DLC will be set before the events of the first Gears of War game. As some of you may have already heard, main characters Marcus and Dom will not be present. Instead, you'll be playing as the quickly gone, but not forgotten Lt. Minh Young Kim, as well as Tai Kaliso, Alicia Valera, and someone who may be familiar to Gears comic fans: Michael Barrick of Zeta Squad. If you cannot tell from the title of the DLC, this content will focus around the main villain of Gears 1, General Raam. What you may not know is that players will eventually be ale to play as Raam! That's right, you can switch it up and take down some COG as the big man!...Uh, I mean big Locust!!
The release date of this content is December 13th, barring any hiccups like we saw at the release of the Horde Command Pack. It will run you 1200 Micrsoft Points by itself, or will be free if you've already ponied up for the Gears Season Pass. Let's see what Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski has to say:
When we announced the ‘Gears 3’ Season Pass, we immediately started getting hundreds of questions from fans about what the game add-ons would be...We’re really excited to be lifting the curtain on the first two releases, first with the ‘Horde Command Pack’ and now with ‘RAAM’s Shadow, which gives fans a new perspective on the ‘Gears’ universe and is also the biggest DLC release we’ve ever made.”
I'm not a fan of Cliffy B myself, but you've got to admit that does sound promising. So keep working on those Onyx Medals until December!
Shout-outs go to XbA members TBC Mr Rager and Chaind Insanity for submitting info on this.
