This is probably coming off as negative and I'm not trying to sound that way. I'm only playing devil's advocate.

I read this thread and from what it sounds like, everyone is just content with their X1, not happy. I don't see anyone crying from the rooftops about how great it is. I don't have one though, so my knowledge is purely secondhand. As someone who has one you're bound to feel defensive of it. I'm just laying down my opinion as it stands now for those who are maybe looking to get one and haven't decided yet.

If you want to play the Xbox 1 offline you're basically sol. The game will play but achievements won't unlock. Also you cannot even look at your achievements or the achievements possible from the game. Or do anything besides play the disk in your box. I don't have any arcade games for 1, but I'm willing to bet that you can't play them offline (I'm pretty sure they save to the cloud anyway) because there are no options on the box as far as your games.
The xbox one is essentially useless to people without internet. 1/10 would not recommend.

This is where I read that it's useless offline, for those asking. Can't figure out how to combine these posts, I'm on mobile right now.

You're only hearing the complaints here though. I have barely run into any issues with my Xbox One, and it's online. I don't play my consoles offline, so that stuff is a total non issue for me personally.
Just as all new technology it'll take a few patches, which they've already start putting out, for it to be running with no hiccups. The only problem I have with the 360, is that is essentially 10-12 year old PC tech at this point. It's amazing what they have gotten out of it, but the system cannot hang anymore specs wise. 360 gen should of ended 2011 the latest.

After reading this, I don't plan on getting an Xbox 1, probably ever. Nothing I've heard has sold me. Nothing. Useless offline, cloud only saves, that's that shit I don't like. Here's a tip for the Xbox 1: keep your 360. It will inevitably prove to be the superior console.
Edit: seriously though, what you guys do with your money is your business. I'm just kinda disillusioned with the whole next generation of gaming after hearing how much bullshit it comes with.

It works perfectly fine offline idk where you heard that from
It varies with people, I myself don't really play mine except for the occasional Madden and Battlefield, recently AV IV. Really all it needs is a better lineup of games and a few (a lot) tweaks to the UI and it'll be gold.
No it doesn't. Not perfectly fine. Yes, you can play the games but you can't check achievements at all they don't even pop. I did find out later that they do pop when you go back online though, so that's a relief. I had no way of knowing what I'd unlocked for a few weeks so that sucked.
But for someone used to a 360 offline, the extremely limited menu of the offline xb1 was disconcerting. It was like playing an n64 again.
@snapple- I disagree. I'm not 100% sure that any developer actually got all they could out of the 360s tech.
Re: the xbox 1- there is a lot not to like. Evol and I have been working on a console review as we have a LOT to say about the console, both good and bad. I can see how someone not super invested in any of the launch titles- or the console specific features- would be scratching their heads at why someone would drop the money on one. They are A LOT of money without much return currently.

I did a little experiment last night that some people may find useful. I simultaneously downloaded GTA 5 (approx 45GB)on two xboners.
Xbone A is hard wired to the modem therefore has faster connection
Xbone B has a 1TB external HD and uses WiFi
Xbone B was finished with the download 20 minutes before Xbone A.
I've already ordered another external hard drive, because that shit was really fast. Thanks for not giving us enough fuckin memory M$

Just an external hard drive doesn't add RAM to the Xbox or anything. Wonder why it downloaded quicker. My wired Xbox One took about 2 hours to download Halo MCC, my Wi-Fi Xbox One took about 8 hours for that same download.

Yeah, I thought it was fucked up too. I'm almost out of space on the other one so I needed to get another hard drive anyway.

It has something to do with the way the xb1 is downloading and installing at the same time--that's what I'm thinking.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong here?
I have $10 on my Microsoft account from a "point" card. Yet I can not buy Magic 2015, for Xbox One, which is only $5, neither on my One, nor on Xbox.com.....

I've had nothing but excellent service when calling them.
Except for one time when I got double charged for a walking dead episode and the first few agents didn't know what a season pass was.
