Nice topic. I'm gonna go with Mass Effect, since hell, I just spent a ton of money to replay ME2 again. Since the topic wasn't clear if you're the main character or not-- we can't assume anything. You could simply be "thrust" into the game universe. In that case-- I think people who said Fallout, Defiance, or other post-disaster porn, might not like their choice after 24hrs without a shower, a hot meal, or having to fight the elements to live to see the sun tomorrow. IF the universe even has a sky that allows the sun to shine through.
Whether we're Commander Shepard, or just a colonist on some dull planet... the Mass Effect universe is pretty interesting... that humanity in general has not only found other alien civilizations, but we've QUICKLY become the DOMINATE species. "We" as a people saved the galaxy. If we're living in Roman times, as an example- it's like simply being "human", like simply being "Roman" meant you had advantages others didn't. Even in a "fair" society, being human would've been better than being Quarian, let's say. Quarian's lost their home planet- are nomads, & it took a human, to make their entire civilization right, again. Yes, this is all fantasy, but when you also take into account all the awesome future technology in that universe- and that it actually has a democratic, to some extent- UN of all species- it would be a fairly comfortable place to live.
That's my two cents...

Honestly in those games the girls seem more into each other than in men. Granted, Zack is the only man on the island, but be careful what you wish for.... an island of impossibly gorgeous women who are all borderline lesbians & want nothing to do with you. (also known as San Francisco)
