So, I was just wondering. Xbox 360 has a VGA cable, which can connect to a computer monitor, right?? Cost $40 new at gamestop and $9 used. So what I have been wondering, is about the picture and quality. Does the picture look HD?? Or does the pictures quality depend on how good the monitor is?? And this wont mess up my 360 in any way will it?? My pc monitor is idk. I know its big though. I mean real big. So the picture should be great I hope. Lol. Does anyone use this for their 360??

I had no idea 360 had a VGA port, I know they have HDMI and the RCA's... You wont get any sound though unless your computer monitor is actually just a tv type monitor with speakers.
Quality goes hand in hand with whatever your monitor can handle, just like any HD television, the only thing that might be off the aspect ratio, is your monitor 16:9 or 4:3?
Also this won't mess up your xbox at all, it's only an output.

It connects to the xbox like the regular one you use for your tv, but the end has a VGA connection and a red and white wire, instead of the red, yellow, white, and HD wires.
What is a 16:9 and 4:3?? I just buy the stuff. Don't pay attention to that. Lol.
Figured it wouldn't mess it up, just wanted to be 100% sure.

Well the red and white wires are the RCA's for sound, so if you don't have any of those type of plug ins on the back of your monitor you'll have to get other speakers...
The 16:9 and 4:3 are aspect ratios for the screen, the 16:9 is usually associated with the widescreen HD televisions and 4:3 are the old type of CRT televisions (the glass ones usually square in shape). If you have a widescreen monitor everything should work perfectly if it's 720p or higher in definition...
WIDESCREEN (16:9)
NOT WIDESCREEN (4:3)

I have speakers for it already so sound should work after I hook it up I hope.
And my moniter is widescreen. So it should work perfectly.
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

No problem, and it's good that you have stand alone speakers, makes for better surround sound. .
Also, it will definitely work after you hook it up, lol.

Lol. Yeah, it does. I like my music on my computer to sound like it does in my cars. Have about 8 speakers with 2 big speakers that have the bass and everything coming from it. Playing my 360 from it should be pretty fun. Lol.
Lol. I hope so. If it doesn't, I'll let you know. Lol.

I have my 360 set up in similar fashion with the speakers plugged into my stereo. It seems to work rather well. The VGA hookup is essentially the same as the HDMI.

The only thing with VGA is you will only be able to get 720p on your monitors, the only way to get 1080p is to get the HDMI cable.

The picture quality will be determined by whatever the monitor's maximum or native resolution are.
How so? I am running mine at 1920x1080.

u can still run at 1080 with vga u just dont get the sound with it. HDMI will get u the 1080 picture plus HD sound. thats the only difference.

I guess your right but I swear when I had my VGA connected it didnt let me change the setting to 1080p but when I got my HDMI it let me do it just fine.

So......If I wanted 1080p with the VGA cable, I wouldn't be able to get sound??
Well then. That sucks.

That's not true. The RCAs that come with the 360 put out 1080p if you use the red green blue connectors.

not true AJ. they will give u 1080i which is 720p. some tvs will say it is 1080p but that is only simulated not a true 1080p. HDMI or VGA are the way to go
