So something you all agree on though, the VGA gives out HD quality picture if the monitor is up to date?? Or should I just stick with using my normal one with my HD TV??

That's not true. The RCAs that come with the 360 put out 1080p if you use the red green blue connectors.

not true AJ. they will give u 1080i which is 720p. some tvs will say it is 1080p but that is only simulated not a true 1080p. HDMI or VGA are the way to go

I have a HDMI and it gets worse quality than my RCAs when set to 1080p...

Lol, I got a 60 dollar one from Best Buy... Everyone I've had over said the RCAs look way better than the HDMI. Also, I don't think the xbox would let me set it to 1080p is it wasn't pumping out 1080p on the RCAs...

it sure does. it lets me set it to 1080p when my tv isnt even 1080p lol. it says my xbox is set to it and my pic is the same as if it were 1080i. but personally i dont bother with the HDMI for my xbox. it dont do bluray and most games dont play in 1080p anyway. so whats the point?

EDIT: this is what i found

Unattributed Quote:

"The only sources currently available for true 1080p images are HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs, and those must be delivered from an HD-DVD or Blu-ray disc player via HDMI cables. HDMI connections carry video images as well as standard images -- and 1080p -- in digital form, whereas component video cables are analog and carry 720p or 1080i HD images. While component video cables are technically able to pass 1080p images, Hollywood studios do not permit 1080p discs to be made without the anti-piracy digital handshake code that must be passed via HDMI cables. HD-DVD or Blu-ray players will only output 1080p signals over HDMI connections."

Right... Either way I'm happy with my RCAs it lets me use the HDMI hookups for more important things... Blu-Ray, Computer, and shit. :D

Yes, i use a capture card. If you want to capture while using a VGA cable you will probably need a VGA to Composite/S-video converter. This will let you output your VGA cable to your monitor while also outputing a composite signal to go to your capture card.

There a few capture cards you could use... I have a Dazzle DVC 100 (external card hooked up though USB) which can get to pretty good quality depending on what you render the video as. You can also get an internal card like this

http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Studio+Family/Studio+MovieBoard+version+12.htm

Also you can get a PCI Tuner card with composite input witch will let you record tv/games.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask:D

I run a similar set up as well, I have terrible eyes so I need to be right in front of the screen (ironic, no?), and for whatever reason I seem to be able to pick things up better on my monitor (vga) than on my big 54" hdtv, so I have the xbox hooked up vga, with the option to switch to hdmi when I have guests over. I love it.

I actually wanted to say "slow down" while reading that. Lol.
I think I understand it though. So with the dazzle, all you do is hook it up to your pc via USB, put the red, yellow, and white wires in there from your 360, and that's it, or more complicated?? Or should I just try looking it up because you don't want to explain it?? Lol. I like asking people and not getting my info from websites because you can't ask questions when you don't understand something on a website.

Yes, but if you want to play with a VGA cable you will need the converter to turn the VGA signal in a composite signal (yellow plug) and the red an white cables plug into the red and white ports on the dazzle as normal, yes.

I can answer questions all day:D
