Yes, you can use ANY USB DEVICE that has memory, but only up to 16g per device, 2 devices max.

Also it turns out Microsoft is going to partner with a company and release some new "memory units" that will have USB thingers and probably have flash memory. There's supposed to be an 8g and a 16g, and they will probably be more expensive than a regular USB flash drive because there'll be an Xbox logo on 'em.

Just try it with a 1gb stick and formatted I only get 466mb of free space to use

It's ok i guess just got the update for it. Don't really have any use for it. I have a 250G HDD, but i did put in my 8 gig and stick and it only says 7.5 Gig. Look it up and found that microsoft is reserving 512 mb on the unit for system information. So I think it is pointless, but that's just my opinion.
