The Stargate franchise began in 1994 with the movie, spawning a tv series, Stargate SG-1, shortly after on Showtime. SyFy began airing the series in 2002 and helped fund a new series, Stargate Atlantis that began airing soon after. The current running show, Stargate Universe was canceled after 2 seasons.

I never really got into Stargate Universe, but was a big fan of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis. Not surprised that Eureka and Warehouse 13 will be back. Eureka improved alot last season and I was pleased that the show finally capitalized on the Jack and Allison relationship. Warehouse 13 was a disappointment in its second season, the show actually became "silly". I hope it gets back on track.

Honestly they went to hell in a hand basket ever since Sci-Fi changed the name to SyFy!!! Ok trying to be cleaver and gain more viewers! Not, however instead of taking what was working for them and making it better, they lost sight of their true fans: us Geeks, Freaks, Nerds, Gamers & Sci-fi fans! We are what made SyFy a good channel. Now they are trying to be more like USA network & I love USA Network - Burn Notice, Psych, White Collar and a few others. I hope the channel is still around next year... I like reruns, but not all the time!

Syfy has brought out many good things, imo. unlike you Meta, i used to enjoy the really cheesy movies that i could laugh at while "in a better state of mind". 
i could never fully get into any of the Stargates, which is odd considering i like stuff like it. i just couldnt pick it up. but it sucks its over. reminds me of that Alice in Wonderland spinoff Syfy made. off-topic, did anyone watch that? it was pretty good.
