Just realized something after the "Normandy Beach" raid in Act III... these barbarians against Rome, are historically barbarians from the Holy Roman Empire, aka ancient Germany. So technically, this whole game is like WW2 fighting Nazi soldiers. Only their great-great-great-etc-Grandfathers. That's kind of interesting. Especially with the British accents by all the Romans. Once I got this 'execution system' down, the game is becoming pretty fun.

Only if you consider all Germans (even ancestors) members of a radical political party from the 1920's...yeah I don't see a comparison at all.
From a historical perspective the Romans were the ones who had similarities to the Nazi party. You will find tyrannical leadership , racism, genocide and war mongering in both. Nazi Germany even technically had slaves. (All of which can even be said of the United States). The "Barbarian" hordes halting Roman expansion were in the moral right. History is a very dark road to start merging traffic.

History is written by the victors.

Oh I agree, Romans basically invaded their homeland & conquered it, on and off. I didn't mean to generalize all Germans, I just meant that the typical FPS Call of Duty / Medal of Honor games last decade, were mostly English / American Allies vs Nazis. And here, you have their ancestors. Not all Germans living in Germany were Nazis during WW2, but a fair majority were, or at least were sympathetic / looked the other way. Same way, to a lesser extent, you can shake a finger at Americans for Japanese-American interment during WW2.

Do the difficulty Achievements stack? Like I could beat it on Soldier then beat it on Legendary and get the other 2 as well?
Nvm, found out they do stack.

You might as well start with hardest difficulty available since its not hard at all.

I had heard it's not that hard but I figure since I have to play through twice anyway and the xp carries over, I might as well just blitz through on easy the first time.
Man this shit took FOREVER to install tonight. It was about an hour and a half till it said "ready to play" but then when I got in and started a new campaign it had to do more installing that took almost another hour.

Install times on xbox one are pretty terrible. Let me know what you think of the mp.

My opinion of this game has just grown over time- & internet opinion seems to back that up. Reviews were quick- & didn't have the MP, and the time- to do multiple campaigns. Yeah, the comments about "it's a generic story", may stem from the fact that it's quite similar to GLADIATOR (in that you control a soldier rising through corruption in politics, and there's even a "Commodus" (sp) evil power emperor. Couldn't they have used another name? Than the Ridley Scott directed devil? But despite that- it's well worth $60.

Agree on all points here. I'm 5 hours in and it's the best launch title since SMW on Snes.
I think people were reaching really hard for stuff to complain about.
Also yeah using the same big bad was inviting deserved criticism.

Beat the game once, am on Ch 2 Legendary. It's fun, just have to be a lot more on-the-ball with executions or else you don't get bonus anything.
But dude, the online coop arenas? It's like Mass Effect but with swords!! I am already pretty addicted to it. Some of you assheads should get your xboner all big and excited and join me in shedding some blood.

Dude, I didn't think it was possible, but I love Ryse's oracle scenes even more than 300's.

I try to get on it when I can. Family is around until New Year's, if you see me on Ryse hit me up. Tempted to buy points to upgrade quicker, though. Last time I played MP, my partner left after 15m, and pretty sure all our XP and point gains were lost. Stupid. But that ISSSS just like Mass Effect MP
