Ignition is a series of 3 different mini-games and then a bunch of motion comics. It does tie in to the larger story but only in some small ways.
The main thing you unlock is a hacker suit for DS2 but by the time you can wear it in the game, you will probably already have a better rig anyway.
Ignition is an easy completion but I would say only buy it if you really want some more story from the DS universe, the mini-games get repetitive and the unlocks aren't worth it.
