Deadly Premonition has more Twin Peaks flavor then Alan Wake did. Better game overall too.
lolwut you may have enjoyed it more, but it didn't have the same level of polish that Alan wake did, that's a fact.
Alan Wake was "BORING". How many lumberjacks do I have to "Flash" before you decide it's repetitive. If you enjoy walking around in the woods for a few hours collecting thermos's and fighting the same enemies, more power to you. Deadly Premonition has a sandbox town to explore, is longer AND has a better storyline. It was only 19.99 brand new as well.

OK, OK, OK!!!!!
I have not seen Twin Peaks in a looooooong time, and for some reason, when playing Alan wake, that series came to mind. Also Harper's Island and Happy Town.

Deadly Premonition was a cult hit amoung a small percentage of gamers. It was ugly as hell, and twice as boring as Alan Wake...maybe you forgot the god awful driving segements in the game, that had about as much excitement as watching 2 pet rocks battle it out.

That video reminds me of trying to navigate in The Darkness, except that game had a waypoint and a road to follow. The Darkness had nothing except street signs and subway tunnels... I'd much rather play Deadly Premonition (although I'd probably hate every minute while playing it).

again what you state was an opinion, but Alan wake had more polish and smoother game mechanics, so you may enjoy it more but it wasnt the better game between the two.

well that's the tricky thin there is no definitive "right" answer, but based off metacritic scores and the budgets of the games would be the best proof to show.
Alan wake score average: 83
deadly premonition average: 68

It doesn't matter what anyone else scores it. If he thought it was a better game, that's his opinion. If you thought it was a worse game, that's your opinion.
It wouldn't matter if everyone in the world said Alan Wake was the best game in the world, it still wouldn't change his opinion of it. I personally thought the game was very boring a repetitive too, so I'm sure I would like Deadly Premonition more.

I actually liked the driving mechanic. It felt more realistic and I enjoyed listening to him talk about movia trivia with himself. I don't see how it's "More boring" It has numerous mini games and a full sized town to check out. Maybe ill do a double take on Alan Wake and wander around killing lumberjacks with a flash light for a entire campaign someday. But not anytime soon.
@ Stapple Cap: I agree it has more polish. But a polished terd is still a terd. I'm just of the opinion (Better campaign, Much much longer campaign and minigames, sandbox exploring) trumps looking pretty. And AW looks pretty in the DARK, and as plenty of 5's and 6's can attest. It's easy to look pretty at night.

and yet again you missed the whole point I was attempting to make. I said Alan wake had more polish to the game then deadly premonition, obviously there is a difference in opinions, but people can enjoy budget games and movies. I enjoy EDF, that doesn't mean it's a good game. the game ha many flaws but I enjoy the b movie vibe to it.
