i mean, roses only last like a couple weeks and that's if you leave them in water and they really only exist to be pretty so that's like saying "my love for you is transitory and based solely on your appearance". but a potato! potatos last for ever, man. in fact, not only will they not rot, they actually grow shit even if you just leave them in the sack. that part alone makes it a good symbol but there's more! there are so many ways to enjoy a potato! you can even make a battery with it! and that's like saying "i have many ways in which I show my love for you" and potatos may be ugly, but they're still awesome so that's like saying "it doesn't matter at all what you look like, I'll still love you"
lol you try giving a girl a potato instead of a rose and see how that goes. I might just do it for the reaction they would give.

Roses are very pretty but ultimately pointless and they die really fast--sounds like a perfect symbol for love to me.

and honestly, i wonder if they PURPOSELY chose a rose for the symbol of love just for that reason....all it does it look pretty and then die

probably cause they cost alot around valentines day
they only cost so much because theyre the dam symbol for love xD
could you imagine....if the potato was the symbol for love...and you went to like a farmers market or store, and saw like 30$ for a sack of potatoes (which i actually think are like 10-20$ anyways, but its a good bit of potatoes lol)

I get 10 lbs of potatoes for $3.99... I imagine a farmers market would be cheaper. For $20 you're going to get more potatoes than you can handle before they go bad.
Also, cockroaches are a better sign of love... nothing kills them. EVER. Potatoes rot in around a month or 2... and they smell like dirty vag as they go. It's the worst smell in the world, I swear. That is NOT a good symbol for love!
Oh that would go over fantastic with the wife. "I love you babe, here are some roaches."
