Just be passionate about (something) and talk about that. Even if it's gaming, have strong opinions & talk about what it means to you. But vary it up don't talk about the same thing. If a girl's creeped out by what you're passionate about, fuck 'em. (not literally, I mean don't sweat it). If she doesn't respond to what you're interested in, there's not much foundation for a relationship anyway. Easier said than done, but talking honestly about what makes you (you) requires zero effort & likely attract someone more genuinely, than putting on an act.

I prefer my ice breakers to be a little lame in a funny or dorky way as an ice breaker. First impressions are pretty key with being dressed nice, etc.
then let them do most of the talking. 1. It shows you're a good listener. 2. You learn a lot about them. And 3. The conversation isn't pressured onto for having to think about something to talk about. Asking open questions and let it see where it goes.

I find that if I am on campus, everyone talks to everyone. It may be that I wear a wedding ring, so they may not see me as any sort of threat (if only they knew!) but I am sure a single guy could do the same thing.

I find sarcasm helps a lot. Not about their appearance or anything physical, but in their opinions & beliefs. (excluding politics & religion). Sarcasm shows you're willing to challenge them & not being boring. Challenging a woman makes her interested in you. If you are unoriginal & boring, you're not challenging her, so why should she bother talking to you? It's a fine line of not being overly negative, though. But sarcasm injects humor. NEVER buy her a drink first. She has to earn it.
