I reiterated that I'm just pissed Lebron isn't on my team anymore
I respect the feelings of being hurt and saddened by losing a SUPERSTAR player, but once again most of the Ohio posts dealing with the issue all have the same tagline "He owed us" or "He should've done it this way". Did you read nothing I wrote he did plenty for Ohio and the Cavs, don't tell me that anyone bothered to watch a Cavs game outside of Ohio before Lebron showed up and I could prolly count the number of season ticket holders prior to Lebron's arrival on both hands.
He brought revenue, interest and confidence to a decade's worth of ho hum seasons and first round playoff exits. He brought accolades that again prior to Lebron's arrival didn't get much more impressive than an All NBA first team spot. He won a Conferance Championship which eluded the Cavs their entire stay in the NBA oh and he did that his 3RD year in the NBA.
You talk about Jordan staying with Chicago, he stayed with Chicago because the Bulls upper managment constantly built talent around him, they brought in solid players and drafted exceptionally well in those 7 years leading up to the Championship run. Plus it's not like they fell apart without him, when he first retired in 1994 the Bulls still won 55 games and made the playoffs, I don't see the Cavs winning anything but the first pick in the NBA Draft the following year without Lebron.
You say he is the cause of the Cavs demise in the NBA playoffs this year? Well how about looking up the statistics of his supporting cast as well, good god man not a single person averaged over 16 points a game in that series, what the hell is Lebron suppose to do when he's the only one putting the ball in the bucket with any consistancy? You talk about how the Cavs spoiled him and coddled him with what? Shaq? An aging center who's last great season was 3 or 4 years ago? Jamison who has been in the league for 12 years and barely averaged 18 points a game in the playoffs this year. Delonte? This dude is the largest waste of a position spot since Kurt Henrich wasted cap space in Chicago for 2 years, he is a talentless hoodlum who's only accolade to date seems to be fucking Lebron James's mom....nice. Mo? HAHAHAHAHAHA this guy has disappeared in every clutch playoff series he has been in and I'm sorry but 53 turnovers in 2 years from a PG in the playoffs is awful. The Cavs did far from spoil they skimped, they did less than coddle they pushed away. Gilbert used the "hometown" schtick to death, and what did he offer Lebron during that meeting? "Hey Lebron, ummmm we have no cap room , and uhhhhh we know we promised you a solid number 2 guy, but I hear that the Celtics might be throwing away some bench players we could snag up" *snickers* Plus Phil Jackson is the most decorated NBA coach in the history of the game, and probably one of the best playoff coaches around. Mike Brown was just some fat dude who got all excited whenever Lebron dunked the basketball, he failed them consistantly in the playoffs with his gameplans and he got fired for it.
Dan Gilbert deserves all if not most of the blame, not Lebron James, of course he's not going to win a championship right away (though I wouldn't rule it out) but the foundation has already been laid in Miami, something that Cleveland could never seem to get right, they had a merry go round of sub par players and rookies that just kinda watched Lebron shoot and expected him to score 35 points a night. Which he pretty much did for 7 seasons and yet no ring, you think that Jordan would've won any championships without those great position players at his side? One maybe but no three peat or dynasty.
Thats the difference is Reinsdorf and Krause actually set out and did what they told Jordan they would do and built a team around him, Gilbert just tossed a slew of average players and expected Lebron to turn them into winners. Which he kinda did in a way because well if you look at the Cavs last 5 years they're a extremely successful team and won their Division handly the last 2 years. Dan Gilbert is a coward for acting like he gives a shit about Ohio or the fans, he's more displeased with the fact that noone is going to give a shit about Cleveland basketball for awhile and he's going to have to buy his groceries at Wal-Mart like all the other Lebron haters. The more you guys try to convince me the less factual the conversations become and the more apparent Clevelands dependance on Lebron to win is.
Jordan stayed because he got results from the front office and was always loved by his fans no matter how the season ended, you guys just about lynched him after the playoffs and expected him to show loyalty haha, Lebron owes Ohio nothing, just be happy you were relevant in the league for a bit.
