PS Vita going digital.. we can believe. X-Box going digital? Bill Gates will be replacing Steve Jobs at Apple.

If this comes through, I just won't invest in the next generation. I will just sit back and play my old used games on my last generation console.

While some people seem to believe that this would be impossible and pass it on as just a rumor, remember these are the same folks that brought us PAID online multiplayer, which many many people said would/could never happen with consoles. We could see judging by the amount of people on Live daily they were wrong. Technically they could do this as well besides the huge titles that everyone buys(COD, Elder Scrolls, GTA, etc.), only the “real diehard gamers” play a lot of titles and out of that lot how many games do you want to spend 60 bucks on.
Financially it makes plenty of sense since MS and the big publishers never see a dime from Gamestop, EB, etc. But it would end up costing MS money in the long run(in court cases) and plenty of goodwill. Something the can ill afford with an ailing economy.

Gamestop specifically "Ain't havin' that". It would hurt their business and turn those away who don't like to buy all games new, or can't afford it. What happens to those who buy a game (not digitally released) and use the code, then return it. This will cause more problems that it solves.
Don't forget the could easily quit selling Microsoft products. I doubt that they would go digital since they seen what happened to the PSP Go.

I really doubt that Gamestop would stop selling M$ products, but I can see them not supporting the nexgen console. That would go a long way toward telling M$ to shove it.

I think it's in the works, just not slated for 2013 release like it's starting to be reported.

Well seeing how I play very little of my 360 as it is now. I'm not even sure I'd pick up the next Xbox, I mean ever since I've got my PC I could really care less for the 360.
Yessir! If only I had the cash for decent gaming PC. I mean I could easily save up for one in a month or so, but I always find myself spending my cash.

PC gaming is kinda jacked, when you buy something yesterday an it’s outdated by the time it’s in your home is weak. The only time I used a PC to “game” was late 80’s, mid 90’s. I don’t think I’ve had a memorable experience on the PC in the last 20 years that I could’t have had on a console. Outside of the graphics that you can only get with the $400+ graphics cards, there’s no real difference to me. PC’s will eventually go the way of the dinosaur, it’s inevitable.

Even if its outdated its still more powerful than a console. Plus once you have a console, that it. Thats your hardware for the next 5+ years. Sure you might need to update your PC for game like BF3 but once you do that, you're good for a while. Its not like you have to run games at maxed out setting. When it comes to PC I only like shooters and MMOs. And Id much rather play a 64 player Battlefield than a weak ass 24.

you believe they would put it out in 2014 and be 2 years behind sony AND nintendo? come on man use common sense that would be financial suicide, because it would be what 400 when the other systems start getting price cuts.
the new xbox is coming next year, and this used game bs is just a rumor, they would commit corporate suicide if they did that with how many retailers would drop them.

Mayhem88,
I don’t think PC gaming is bad I do believe however PC gaming is well past it’s prime. For the “average and unindoctrinated” gamer PC gaming doesn’t give the value in comparison to the price of ownership. I’ve gone through 2 boxes, that’s a lot but that’s still cheaper than buying a gamer pc for around 2,000(not including the almost mandatory upgrades) while my cost of ownership for three Boxes and a PS3 was maybe 1,500. You can buy a cheaperLaptop/Desktop for sure but will it run the game you want to play in 6 months (http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/19/mass-effect-3-pc-system-requirements-blasted-open-by-bioware/)? I like consoles because of the fact you know for a set period of time the games will play. Also for years PC games have come with one time activation codes or you’d have to look up a certain page in a manual to run the software, that blows. For all generation of console machines you don’t have to run out and drop 60 dollars on a game you’re not sure about you can borrow it from a buddy, or run to gamestop and buy it used.
