Saw a video on youtube(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvJ6N6H85BM) from Gunn44(or something) saying there was an unconfirmed rumor about the new Xbox not allowing used games to be played. I think this would be a horrible move. I personally wouldn’t buy it. What do you guys out there think?

I don't like the idea, but I feel it's inevitable.

I don't know, I can't see them doing away completely with used games. I would be pissed if I have spent all this money on the games that I have and not be able to play them on the new console.
BUT, if they still continue and allow us to use our gamertags and gamescore then I will just keep my console I have now in order to play them, so really...no biggie.
Doing away with used games I can see, but doing away with gamertags and gamerscore I cannot see.....so really, this is no big deal.

Well Kidd, most likely the way it would work would be that each game comes with a one time use code that links the game to a specific user. So all the games you already own or that are released prior to this implementation would remain unaffected. So games you already have, whether bought new or used, would work fine.

I first read this information on Kotaku as well. I know these info is "rumor mill" and there are quite a few variations of what MS could do, but if the new Xbox goes to a code system or blocks the use of used games, count me out.
Instead of punishing the user MS should figure out a way to stop GameStop from selling used games as new.
The used game market sells alot of consoles. Moving away from this is a big mistake IMO.

Its just a rumor at this point, if you read the kotaku article a lot of it is speculation and even the "source" says they don't know how it would be done.
Its probably just some idea that got thrown out on the table and not a whole lot will be done with it. If they are the only console to do this it would be suicide.

I know it's just a rumor, but I'm kinda leaning towards believing it, at least after seeing the efforts that EA is putting in to make you buy a new online code to play a used game online. Having said that, and assuming that this is true, this would be the move to get me to quit Xbox

Gamestop specifically "Ain't havin' that". It would hurt their business and turn those away who don't like to buy all games new, or can't afford it. What happens to those who buy a game (not digitally released) and use the code, then return it. This will cause more problems that it solves.
