It better be worth my time. If it's anything like Dead Money they should just stop making DLC.

I hated the subway system in 3, it was terrible. I liked the return to the original setting in NV... but honestly, both of the settings were bland... it's a wasteland- in both games they did a great job of rendering it so people would feel hopeless and sad, I think.
I felt exactly that same way for the characters and story-- of 3, lol. My opinions of the characters varied from disinterest to active dislike.
Honestly, I probably wouldn't have gone back to Fallout 3 if I hadn't read about the sandman perk exploit, and even then it took me days to max my level. It's a shame, too- I was SOOOO looking forward to it coming out- it's the only game I've ever preordered, and I got the lunchbox and bobblehead and everything. IDK- it was fun for a few hours, but when I set it down I never thought about it again. I only rented NV because of how I felt about 3, but after I had to return it, I kept thinking about the game, so I bugged Evol until we got it for me, lol.
The subway system was terrible in 3 at first I will give you that. I felt the NV setting was more bland only due to the fact that it's supposed to be somewhere that was untouched by bombs in the canon of the franchise. That's not Fallout, never has been and hopefully they edge away from that in future games. There wasn't any exploration and danger to be had like there was in 3.
I never preordered the game, I bought it after seeing my friend play it on his PC and even then I waited for the GOTY to release. I wish I had the bobblehead though lol. NV just struck me as a $60 Fallout 3 mod, added way more guns new people and a new "story".
I'm going to have to disagree with you Mudkip, especially on the exploration and danger front. There was a much heavier emphisis on exploring your surroundings in NV, giving all the hidden unique weapons and armor, side characters and quests, also the Wild Wasteland perk. Also, I found myself in much more near death situations given that Deathclaws are nearly invincible in this game and the addition of the Cazadors made it even harder to face the wilderness without proper preperation.
I also think the world of NV to be much more fleshed and living, despite its barren environment. The writting is what sells it for me. That humorous yet cynical tone harkens back to the old fallout games where the world was a harsh place to live in and that was okay with people, thats part of there lives now.
I honestly can't wait to see how this new side story goes. I thought Dead Money did a solid job introducing the new storyline, with all those little hints scattered around and foreshadowing whats to come with the end scene of the DLC. It got me super hype and actually got me to go to the NV wiki to read all the speculation and known history of the fallout universe and the potential of this new adventure.
I'm guess what I'm trying to say, Fallout New Vegas is a better game than Fallout 3, at least for me lol

For those not sucked in by LA Noire right now, the new Fallout New Vegas "Honest Heart" came out today for 800 mp.
I've only got to play 20 minutes of it so I havent really gotten into the story. What I have seen is the beginning of the new area youre expected to explore and it looks pretty damn big.
This feels like it going to be a Point Lookout type DLC, and that makes me happy

The new DLC looks badass but I have barely even started the retail campaign plus the first DLC which Ive already purchased. NV was such a disappointment after #3 (although I do agree the subway system was a drag in 3.) I think what I hate most is the whole faction system in NV, having to worry about what armor I'm wearing and the consequences for wearing it around warring factions was annoying as fuck.

Yeah I can understand that but the some best armors besides the brother of steel power armor, arent faction related.

Yeah, I think I just need to play more. Now that its summer I have time to load that game and actually invest some hours into it. Whoopie
