new Amon Amarth, Obscura, The Human Abstract, Children of Bodom. kinda cool. when i saw "Havok" i immediately thought "Havok Unit", which was formed from the ashes of "...and Oceans", which was a badass industrial metal band. i was kinda disappointed when i saw it wasnt.

Rammstein annouces 1st US tour in over a decade. fuckin A!

former Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold drummer Mike Portnoy forms an as-yet-unnamed project with Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs, Kansas, Deep Purple), Neal Morse (Spock's Beard), Casey McPherson (Alpha Rev, Endochine) and Dave LaRue (Steve Morse, Dixie Dregs). Mike is also touring with a Beatles cover band called Yellow Matter Custard.

God Dethroned will disband after 20 years at the end of the year due to lack of interest to tour

Atreyu announced through Twitter that they will be going on indefinite hiatus. (YAY!)

Morgoth are embarking on a festival tour throughout this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 1991 album, Cursed.

i dont really know how to take the new Amorphis album, i pretty stoked, but at the same time, im meh. Amorphis has released some decent albums, but their older stuff and their Magic & Mayhem album wasnt really good. :( but yeah, you two need to look into The Interbeing's new album. its already going to be best underground album and band. i mean, their EP was stunning back in '08. and Meta, if you havent heard of Xerath, their really cool. their like a more darker and heavier Dimmu Borgir.

I wouldn't mind seeing what's new out there but don't break your back bringing us the goods. :P

So ICS Vortex did a solo album? Kind of weird, I will try to get a listen to it. I used to like his old band Borknagar, and his stuff with Dimmu Borgir was pretty good, but I guess his ego is just too big to be contained by either band!

Fuck yeah new Absu! For those that don't know, Absu is one of the best kept secrets in the world! They play really creative... I don't even know what you would call it, sort of thrash prog black metal I guess, but based on esoteric and weird mythologies. They are from here in Texas!

Fuck yeah new Immolation and Skeletonwitch, I haven't heard either of these bands' stuff in a long time but they are both awesome. Skeletonwitch had a song in the game Brutal Legend fyi!

Fuck yeah new Tsjuder, that's the real black metal good stuff.

Fuck yeah new 1349 but wtf is an "official" "bootleg"? That seems like an oxymoron. They need to just get off their butts and record some new stuff. Maybe do another weird album that will freak everybody on the internet out again.

Fuck yeah new Krisiun, if you like kind of old school speed or thrash metal you should hear Krisiun, they are fucking fantastic. They combine the song quality of the old school, but played at the speed and intensity of the new school! Their drummer is a fracking machine.

RIP Seth Putnam--Anal Cunt wasn't my favourite band evar or anything but they were something else and this guy had a big impact on extreme music in general.

I'm actually not a big Borknagar fan but it's good that they got Vortex back because he was 51% of the talent in the group.

Honestly, Dimmu Borgir need to swallow their pride and beg Vortex and Mustiis the keyboardist to come back, without them DB is just really polished thrash metal with flowery intros and outros.

It's cool that Morgion and Ministry are getting back together. Morgion was one of the early epic doom bands, that is some heavy music boy. Ministry has always been fun.

Coal Chamber I am interested in just because I was mega in to them when they first formed and I was a whee Meta lurking in the shadows of a big new high school. I have hung out with their frontman Dez Fafara a couple different times, also with his other band Devil Driver, and he is a very interesting fellow. His vocals keep getting better with each release he's on, and since there is no more "nu metal wave" shit going on right now, I am interested to see what Coal Chamber will sound like without being muddied up.
