Ok, on a more serious note, which I wasn't quite ready to type all out on my ipod and my emotions were still out of whack.
This morning at 10am I got a call from the office (I'm a teacher) saying my wife was on line 1. My wife NEVER calls me in the middle of classes. I said out loud "that's not good" and left. Picked up the phone to hear sirens and my wife absolutely bawling. All she could get out was "He stopped breathing, we're going to the ER"
I went to my classroom and got my keys and just said "I'm leaving" and hopped in my truck. The whole drive over there I was a wreck, I thought my boy was dead. I got there to see him struggling and working REALLY hard just to breathe. Talked to my mother in law a bit and found out (she's a nurse) that she didn't like the look/sound of his breathing since yesterday and had been watching him all morning when suddenly he just stopped breathing. She immediately got him breathing again and told my wife to call 911.
In the ER they did all sorts of tests, etc and gave him a ventilator (breathing tube down his throat) because they were afraid that he was working so hard to breathe that he might get tired and just quit trying from exhaustion. Luckily the NICU here is exceptional and as of right now everything is as good as it can be. He's had a lot of tests all of which have been good. They see no lung problems, no heart problems, everything seems ok. His throat is just very swollen which cut off his airway. They're looking into a lot of different possibilities to see what it was/is.
So if you're a religious person, pray for my boy. If you're not religious send us some positive vibes or whatever your preference is.
Things look good right now, and the ultrasound on his brain showed nothing negative at all since he was without oxygen for such a short matter of time. We're SO thankful his grandma is a nurse and that she was right there watching him when it happened or things could have been very different.
We're not out of trouble yet, but it looks like the worst is behind us.
Oh my god, how scary! We're praying for your son, Kent! Thank god for your mother-in-law!!!!
