Ok, everyone who knows me, knows that I was playing FFXIII all day yesterday! So my question to everyone is.....

Should I:

A) Buy a PS2 and start playing the old FF games.
or
B) Buy all of the JRPG's on the 360 like star ocean, last remnant, Blue dragon. etc.....
And if someone could tell me EVERY JRPG that has come to the 360. I would love them! :D

Thanks! Please Answer!

-Chase

Play the old ones they are worth it!
Well at least in story line, you could probably skip ff1, but story line and thevolution of the game starts in ff2.
Enjoy those throw backs first then make your decision on the others.
Also don't forget Tales of Vesperia a 10 out of 10 in my book!

definitely buy a PS2 and play PS2/PS1 RPGs, those gens's RPGs blow todays's out of the water. although with $200, you won't be able to get ALL the old FFs due to how rare some of them are. however, there's plenty of great JRPGs for PS2, so that alone should justify your PS2 purchase, they should be around $50 used now, so go get one! aside from RPGs, the PS2 library is also enormous and packed with a lot of great games.

and to list all the JRPGs for 360:
-Eternal Sonata
-Enchanted Arms
-The Last Remnant
-Tales of Vesperia
-Lost Odyssey
-Blue Dragon
-Infinite Undiscovery
-Magna Carta 2
-Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope
-Phantasy Star Universe
-Final Fantasy XI (online only MMO so meh...)
-Final Fantasy XIII

Lol, I don't think $200 would be enough to track down all the old PS1 Final Fantasies. You're better off getting an NES or SNES emulator and the roms for the old games. X, X-2, and XII are for PS2, and are really cheap now, but you'll still be missing the three for PS1: 7, 8, and 9.

They're all def worth a play through, especially if you've never experienced them before, but its going to be difficult/expensive to track all of them down. As for JRPG's on the 360, they have dropped in price, and Blue Dragon can be had for as little as ten bucks, and is one of the few I have played. From what I've heard all the JRPG's on the 360 are good...to varying degrees, plus you have the chance to potentially earn achievements.

Magna Carta 1 is for PS2, but it's extremely rare, also the stories for 1 and 2 aren't related if i remember so if that's what you're worried about, don't.

and yes, definitely get a PS2, it's in my opinion the best console out there with the biggest and most diverse library of games, you'll no doubt find plenty of games to enjoy, especially if it's RPGs!

as for the old FFs, if you have a PSP/DS, they've FF1 and FF2 for PSP and FFIII and FFIV for DS. if you get a PS2, just track down FF Anthology which includes FFIV and FFVI, it's rare, but not impossible to find and should set you back around $30. then there's FF Chronicles which includes FFV and Chrono Trigger (or was it Chrono Cross??!). FF7, FF8, and FF9 shouldn't be too hard to find as long as you're not going for the black label (non greatest hits) versions, each will set you back around $20. finally, as for the PS2 era FFs, they're not hard to find at all; FFX is very common and is about $12, FFX-2 same price same rarity, FFXII same rarity but $15

Lol, I was actually surprised there was that many; when the 360 was first released I think it was over a year before a good JRPG hit it, maybe longer. Although I was spoiled by the PS2's gigantic catalog.

Ok so the last question I have to ask is:
Could someone put the 360 JRPGS in order from best to worst and maybe prices next to them. I would be very happy! THANKS!

haha yeah, there's quite a few now for 360.

and eh, it's all a matter of opinions, but of the few i've played, i think Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey are the two best JRPGs on the 360 so far, i'm sure FFXIII has something to say about that but i'm only 2 1/2 hours in so it doesn't deserve my full praise yet xD

Tales of Vesperia is becoming rarer each day, so you can either try to find it offline for about $40 now, or check Amazon and they tend to have it for $25 new. amazing game, very fun battle system and not to mention a pretty neat story.

Lost Odyssey on the other hand, isn't quite as rare, it's $25 used and should be at nearly every Gamestop. it spans a whopping 4 discs and the story is an amazing 50+ hour experience, 100+ if you want to get 1000/1000.

The Last Remnant isn't for everyone, i'll tell you that. i LOVE JRPGs but i couldn't get into this game. battles can be as large as 30 vs 30, but it's all turn based and pretty simple so nothing crazy. story has a lot of potential but i didn't really uncover that potential since i gave up on it 3 hours in. i might return to it one day, but not yet.

Phantasy Star Universe is unique. the concept is that of an MMO, but there is a single player story. the battle is an action style system more like a very dumbed down action game. pretty linear and straightforward exploration and the story is decent. the actual MMO portion of the game requires you to pay like $10 a month to play and the online community is still a fairly respectable size so you shouldn't have trouble finding people to play with if you desire. and lastly, THERE'S NO PAUSE BUTTON, EVEN IN THE SINGLE PLAYER, so if you want to "pause", you have to go to a safe area and leave it running

If you get a PS2, obtain copies of Xenogears and the original Suikoden and play them ASAP.

I'm serious, they are awesome. Do it or I will spit in your mouth. Xenogears is my greatest game evar.

Also Shadow Hearts was very fun.

since you brought up Xenogears, you had better play the Xenosaga trilogy too! >I< will spit in your mouth if you don't play it. the Xenosaga trilogy is definitely my favorite RPG series ever. if i began to describe why i love it so much, i'd have to type out a whole essay here xD but let's just trust me on this one and do it. oh, and good luck finding Xenosaga Ep 3 :p
