There are only days left until the iPhone is released. Check out this guided tour of the iPhone. If I didn't just get a new phone a month ago, I would consider getting one. If it wasn't exclusive to at&t, I'd be extremely tempted to get one.

I don't like the huge price tag, or the low storage (maximum of 8gb), or the at&t exclusivity. Maybe in a few years there'll be a perfect iPhone for me.

I'm kind of thinking about an iPhone too. I have the money, but I already have an iPod. I also don't really feel like switching to at&t and having to pay for my own plan.

I have a 1GB ipod and do not have a cell phone yet, so this is looking really nice. I think 8GB will be more than what I need for music space. But the one thing that gets me is the monthly fee. I hear it will be like $100 a month!! WOW just wow

But I really am concedering getting this awesome phone.

Wasn't your old plan with at&t/cingular? That stinks because it would've been so easy to switch to an iPhone. I'm with Cincinnati Bell right now who doesn't make you sign any contracts, but if I switched to get the iPhone then our 3 member family would be on 3 different networks, which probably isn't the best thing to do.

I was just in the Apple store today and they had like 30 iPhones for demo-ing. Luckily I got to play around with it and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! I am definitely going to be buying an iPhone now. This has got to be one of the best pieces of hardware I have ever used. Please, do yourself a favor and go down to an Apple store and try it out IMMEDIATELY!!

I'm pretty sure the first iPods were $500 and the iPhone is so much more than an iPod. Also, the razr was really expensive when it came out, and it's a POS in comparison to the iPhone.

I've been obsessed with the iPhone lately. I wish I hadn't switched carriers just two months ago. I know I'll be buying an iPhone eventually, but I guess I'll wait for the next generation. The iPods got better as they went on, and cheaper. Also, the Verizon termination fee is proportional to the amount of time left on your plan. It'll be cheaper for me to switch carriers in a year or so.

Be warned UK. Do not buy this thing without doing a ton of research first. A demo unit set to be fully optimized in an apple store does not truly reflect the poor reviews this thing is getting in the real world. It has been getting high marks for ingenuity, but low marks for usability and value for your dollar.

Not to mention, when a newer version comes out that has the G3 network capabilities, you cannot just upgrade the current model from Edge to G3, you would need to buy a complete new phone.

Also, the battery is only good for 300 charges, and thenmust be replaced at a cost of $80 (as it stands today).

QFE. I don't know about the demo unit, seeing as there's not all that much optimization they can do. I know most retailers do that with TVs and displays but this is just an iPhone.

Anyways, I've been following the iPhone since January. I've been hearing horrible reviews of the EDGE network. I'm hoping the next generation has 3G and GPS.

As for the keyboard which is the only problem with usability I've heard, it depends where you're coming from. I've read several reviews that have said if you're coming from a blackberry, or a similar smart phone, you're going to have trouble with the keyboard, but if you're coming from a traditional cell phone, you'll love it.

Optimization means they have a wi-fi hotspot in the store to show off the capabilities of the online service, not the unreliably and slow EDGE network. The applications and info already in teh phone is done ahead of time to show you how cool it is, btut not how much work is put into it. More than likely being run off AC power than teh battery.

In addition, Safari only supporst Apple Quick time and youtube, which means videos on teh most popular sites like CNN, ESPN and everything else in teh free world will not work.

There have been major complaints of the screen attracting finger grease causing issues in bright light of not being able to see through it.

The battery is soldered in the phone, only last for approximately 300 charges and Apple's replacement plan includes loaning you an Ipod (for a $29 fee) and charging you $85 to replace it.

Not including 3G was just plain dumb and probably intentional. A 3G device is fully capably of dropping back to the Edge network, so whatwever Apples intentions were, it was not with the consumers best interests in mind.

The bottom line is that this device has lots of cool little features, but it is so flawed in its current incarnation that waiting for the 2nd or 3rd gen model only makes sense. There are a lot of better ways to spend $500 dollars....
