If this is a fun site that has fun events it will attract more people from xbox. If its a site where people just talk about stuff that will not attract very many at all. I know there is something in the works for an event but having multiple events back to back is what will attract more people and make this the site to be at for xbox users :)

I believe you are missing the point about the funding issue. This site lives on limited advertisements and rare donations from its members. Running multiple events back to back would require a good amount of funding to produce rewards for its winners. No one will just join the site for a competition, they can get that daily via matchmaking on Live. But that's where you come in. Your word of mouth to various members across Xbox Live speaking of how great Xbox America is, brings in new members. Then with active participation from the new members the website raises in value so to speak. Bringing in a higher dollar signs to advertise on this site, not to mention new member donations. Once all that happens, Xbox America would be able to produce some huge events with plenty of swag.

I completly understand what you all are after. You can also run a competition with prizes that don't cost money like making a new badge you could earn just for each competition or the winner gets put on community spotlight. Yo could let the winner pick a set amount of games off the trade center. Things like that are free and would also help bring in new people. I have been trying very hard as of late to bring in more members, I even went as far as private messaging people off x360a to see if they would also join xbox america. I tried recruiting alot of the guide writers off that site because in my opinion thats what makes x360a a great site. If you want alot of traffic and new members to the site we need to start putting guides up, or better guides like the format or similar to the format they are running. Could we at least implement a guide tab at the top where forums, events and that stuff are? The reason I say this, thats the single reason I'm even online while I play games, to get guides to help me out. If it wasn't for people writing guides I probably wouldn't even be here right now.

Edit: I also funded $50 to this site and I'm not a rich man, lol.

Funding the site goes towards the server costs, that otherwise would be coming straight out of the site creator's pocket. Prizes for competitions have to come out of the pockets of the staff. We certainly cannot give away games from the trade thread- those belong to the members who are trying to trade them.

There's not really room for another tab on top, which is why my goal of having a reviews tab has not been implemented. Guides are x360a's thing, not ours. Previous attempts at putting guides up ended being just copy/pastes from x360a. Personally, I think TA has a better guide system, but that's just personal preference. There is a hints, tips and cheats section in the forums, if you would like to try your hand at writing a guide but, like I said before, our staff is already stretched too far trying to keep up with the news and reviews we post and patrolling the forums. You know, besides the families, jobs, and hobbies we are all balancing.

We REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate your thoughts, and that you are trying to help build the site, but I feel like you're not understanding or thinking beyond yourself, because you're reading the staff saying "we really can't do this right now," and you're stubbornly insisting they can. There's a chance, in the future, there may be more site events, with and without prizes, but right now we are not focusing on them. The last xba night was to boost GTA 4, and I'll have to check with Crawford about turnout, but 20 or so people had expressed an interest, and I don't think that many actually showed up. I suppose it depends on the results of the summer tourney, and whether that piques site participation, but right now the best way for you to have a night of playing with xba members is to continue with the events. That's why that part of the site was created!

Ok I understand. I hope sometime soon we can host events regularly with good turnouts, I'm not sure how to get from where we are now to where it needs to be. The only solution is more members I guess. Don't ads go towards the site creator?

Yea we had a good amount of interest and when the date was all set, I think we ended up with maybe 4 people that actually played. All we did was have fun free roaming around the city for a bit before we all kind of lost interest. I'll take the blame for that event though because it wasn't really thought/planned out the best that it could have been.

I'm sure that if we get more regulars showing up and posting more often we will get closer to having some events. Even if there is no prize its nice to just get together with other people from the site and play.

As far as the ads go, I don't think ads alone are enough to keep the site going. (I could be wrong as I'm really just guessing) Basically we need to get more site traffic that wants to become a part of our community. I don't just mean sign up and never visit the site again either. Our leaderboards say we have about 25000 members but I'd say theres maybe 50-100 people who post fairly regularly.

Another thing that is kind of a problem is that Jackson is the only person who codes this website, hes also currently in college and has other projects that he works on. Just because people want new tabs new site layouts and whatever else doesn't mean it can just get done as soon as its suggested.

I get where you're coming from though, if we had more events it would definitely bring/spark a bigger interest in our site. The problem is we don't get enough traffic to sustain these events, And there's just not enough of an active community to even try to compete with X360A or TA. Maybe in the near future though... We'll just have to see.

Its just nice to know other care about this as well and want the same thing. We all need to brain storm and think up some innovative ideas to draw more people in and possibly have events at the same time.

Thats what I'm trying to do with my event on kinect play fit, we'll see how many people I can get for that, anyone that wants to join please do and help the overall calories burned.
