lol am i the only one who never had gil issues throughout the game? i always had a steady supply of potions from enemy drops so i rarely had to buy those. status healing items are the same situation where enemies dropped a steady supply. only thing i ever had to spend a lot of gil on were phoenix downs xD

Grinding in the room right before him seems to be working. Got Light's weapon up to 16 since the last time I posted so it's moving at a decent pace, and I got the crystarium topped off for everyone now. Just a matter of getting enough components to finish everyone's upgrades.

Well, that 3 hours of grinding really paid off and i only got Lightning's weapon fully upgraded. Beat him first try doing what Setsuna suggested and got 4 stars out of it. I'm so excited I was jumping in my seat when I finally beat him. lol

When I was playing, I found that CP grinding and filling out the Crystarium did plenty to get me through tight spots. I only had one weapon partially upgraded, it was Lightning's Axis Blade up to level 6, the entire game until after I had already beat it and gone back to Pulse to CP grind and do Cie'th stone missions.
Not that there's anything wrong with upgrading your equipment and weapons early, but bear in mind that having higher level stuff will greatly shorten the target times for battles, making it harder to 5 star them. Also it's just a pain in the butt.
Also, let me clarify: when I said I don't recommend using Diversity (COM/RAV/MED) I meant specifically for the last phase of that particular fight. As for the rest of the game, yeah I used Diversity a lot.
As far as items, the only thing I ever bought and used was Phoenix Down's, and that was because a lot of times I would be stubborn and try to brute force my way through rough fights about 4 or 5 times before getting smart.

I figured that was what you meant. I did use it a few times during that fight but only long enough for a quick heal if someone was getting down to the halfway point.
I had read somewhere (can't remember where) about the weapon level making your time shorter to get the 5 stars, that's why I'd tried switching weapons before. Go figure it was something as simple as needing to grind a bit and upgrade weapons. Have to remember that when I run into a road block later on, cause I'm sure I will.

It should be pretty smooth sailing for you until the end of Ch 11. The boss you just went through is one of the tougher fights in the game since you are limited by the party, Crystarium, etc.

I'm upgrading the weapons I don't want to use all the way to their ultimate forms, to get me that much closer to the achievement, lol. Also because when I'm just farming for CP it's fun to just run through quickly. I'm not a big fan of grinding, so I like having supercharged weapons to help out, lol.
you dont have to upgrade all the weapons to their ultimate form for the cheeve. just one of each character. they all turn into the same weapon in their final form. for the cheeve to pop you only need one for each character and all of them to their second form.
im not sure if you knew so dont think im trying to be a smartass

Just to make certain, once you get them to their second form do you have to keep all of them in your inventory? Or can you sell them off and just keep the one you're upgrading to it's third form? Hate to sell them all off once I upgrade them and then not be able to get the achievement because of it.

no you dont have to have every item in your inventory for the achievement to pop. you just need to have had them at some point. so yes you could sell them if your hurting for gil

Ok, thanks. That's what I thought, but with my luck I figured I'd better make sure.
