I used the search function and didn't see a topic about this, but if there is / has been I am sorry for doubling up. I pose this question cause some douchewad who was on my friends list invited me to play a game while I was in a boosting session. He informed me that it was a form of cheating and he reported me to xbox. Should I fear a suspension?

well, 1. do you really think he REALLY reported you? 2. in some cases, yes. Halo is the main game that says "fuck you guyz, we take all ur creditz." for boosting. and 3. i doubt the community thinks boosting is cheating, considering 3/4 of the events that are held are for boosting 'cheevo's. but i think you'll be fine.

No you shouldn't fear because you weren't:
a) glitching an exploit in the game.
b) boosting the game to gain an unfair advantage over the other team. (CoD!!!!)
c) you didn't break any rules to incur a suspension or ban.

As far as your friend goes, I'd delete him off your live for being a cock gobbler.

Yeah, I'm sure there are a few people against it, but still.....

You only get reset by MS for NOT playing a game and getting achievements (glitching/gamesaving/etc). I can assure you probably everyone in the top 100 leaderboards worldwide would be reset if boosting was something that could get you reset (myself included).

The only form of boosting I would call "cheating" is purposely working with a few other people in online ranked multiplayer matches to gain an advantage over the other people in the match.

If you boost ranked because no one plays the game anymore, and it is just boosters playing, then I don't consider it cheating, and I don't consider any other form of boosting cheating because you are still doing work to get the Achievements or points or whatever, you are just stacking the deck in your favour.

Wouldn't it be mighty hard to prove most cases of boosting, anyway? Proving someone didn't shoot back for 'X' number of kills so someone else could get an achievement would be hard to separate from someone who just plain can't use the controller worth crap or has slow reaction times.

Don't sweat it. The guy is a dick obviously so i would delete him from your friends list but as far as being worried he reported you, don't worry. Microsoft always does a very extensive check into allegations and most of the time nothing is ever found. As far as Halo Bungie runs their servers like Nazi's and it is way uncool so don't boost Halo!

This has probably already been answered in multiple forms and/or ways, so ill just add to that amount :)

Boosting is in no way cheating and you will not suffer any penalties for doing so. So long as you legitimately meet the requirements for whatever achievement you are going for then you cannot get penalized for the method.

Glitches and exploits in various games too cannot be used as a reason to be banned. If a glitch within a game so happens to give you an achievement without meeting natural requirements then its the developers fault, not yours.

The only way you will get labeled a cheater is if you were to physically open up your system and tamper with it to give you achievements without doing lick shit (I dont know how the process with gamesaving works but meh) afterwards then you are at risk of more than a suspension. Letting someone else play on your account for achievements is also illegal as i have been informed with another case of someone being labeled a cheater (im sure everyone knows the story).

The only other way i can see you getting suspended for boosting ... is if you were playing Halo and the doucheward reported you to bungie or something , because for some reason Bungie doesnt like boosters yet makes it so easy to boost all there achievements. And even then youll only get suspended from Halo for .. maybe a week or something.

I love boosting. Most of the games i have are considered dead so i have to boost(hint send me invites).

On halo i think it is extreme-ly hard to boost. No one is on odst, i only need endure. Halo wars nobody has except me. Reach a butt load of exp is needed. Halo 3, i have 4 achievements left. 2 ranked, if you know how to boost ranked matches set up an event and invite me. other 2 are legnedary maps. i never get them and when i do wring game mode or i completly suck at the time when i need to get them. So halo is hard to boost and i am up for boosting it if you send me invites
