I'm suprised by taco's comments. Doing nothing for an achievement is considered cheating? Damn, I guess every member at XboxAmerica should get reset. Were a community built on GS and finding easier ways to get it. Remember, an achievement tells you what goal to obtain, not how to obtain it. If "Seriously" didn't want me to boost kills, it would have mentioned that in the achievement. It also wouldn't unlock after boosting it.

you cant honestly use "seriously" because you have to DO something to get that achievement when you boost it. you have to boost the kills. thats DOING something. even if its just a little something. sitting there, leaving your xbox on, and doing NOTHING AT ALL, not even looking at it hardly, is just fucking stupid. youre not ACHIEVING anything. the point of the achievements was to ACHIEVE something. even when you boost, you still ACHIEVE it. if you sit there and do nothing, youve achieved nothing, except maybe having a lot of time on your hands.
and aj, i quite frankly dont/couldnt give the slightest shit about playing games i dont/wouldnt like, or games JUST for achievements, so i really dont care about playing saw or truth or square just for gamerscore. if im going to play a game, its because i want to, not because its easy. and also, hitting lt colonel in reach doesnt take 50 hours. its actually REALLY easy if youre even semi good at halo, and can get past warrant officer. once you pass that, its a cake walk pretty much.

My grandfather always said, "work smart, not hard". If he found an easier way to do something, he did it. Its not laziness, its time efficiency.
Note: I didn't use Seriously as an example of doing nothing. I used it as an example of boosting an achievement in a different way than intended.

exactly. i never said boosting, like your seriously example, was cheating. youre still ACHIEVING the achievement. youre still getting the kills. its just faster. but you still have to DO something
where i have the problem is where you dont do ANYTHING. im not sure if you quite understand what im saying, because the way youre replying, it seems like you think im saying boosting things (like kills, wins, etc) is cheating, and thats NOT what im saying. you still have to do things to get those achievements for the kills, wins, or whatever it may be. but if youre doing nothing, and not actively participating in the obtaining of the achievement, then thats just fucking retarded and thats where i start to call it cheating. when you dont actively participate in the obtaining of the achiievement, but instead sit there and do nothing

Just popped two achievements in Just Cause for grappling my car to plane and letting it fly for 20 minutes. I sat there and watched an episode of Family Guy, is that cheating? I just sat there and did nothing.

So are you against the rubber band trick for Texas Hold Em? As it has an achievement for playing every hand in poker, and it can take up to and over 30k hands to get it.

yes, because i dont like you nor that game. but thats beside the point
pure, when its just crazy bullshit like that (making you have to play almost 30K hands? im not poker-smart, but even i know thats a LONG ass time) the rubber band trick is fine. ya know, that stupid bs like the master longevity in viva pinata (i think its like 250 hours, or 50 days, or something crazy long) or the 932185701958029 flying miles in superman returns, and you couldnt NORMALLY get that just regularly playing the game, then i tolerate it more. altho the VP one you could get just regularly playing, if you actually liked the game.
but, personally, im not a waffler like all of you guys, so i guess i dont really relate to it as much as you guys might

Its only cheating if it messes up the game for other people. For example, Nuke Boosting in MW2... Sure its boosting, but its cheating because your manipulating the outcome of the game for the people who are playing legit. BUT if you and a full lobby of people are boosting together... then its fine.
Theres nothing wrong with getting achievements without actually being there, and its definitely not cheating IMO.

You can get ANY achievement just by playing any game. It's all a matter of how much time you want to put in. By no mean is sitting there doing nothing cheating. There's no penalty for doing it so it can't possibly be considered cheating.

the relevance of making this comment i dont understand. thats one of those comments you just wanna say "no shit, sherlock to" the point of the ACHIEVEement is to ACHIEVE them by playing the game and actively participating.
and you cant use the "theres no penalty, it cant possibly be cheating" because theres rarely any penalties for nuke boosting, or getting into prestige lobbies in any cod game. now, the one who has the j-tag (basically, the modded lobby host) can get banned, but thats because he tampered with the system. but all those people who nuke boost or get in lobbies to be jumped to highest prestige, theres no penalty for them, but we all still call that cheating. so the "no penalty, so it cant possibly be cheating" is an extremely flawed logic.
and fps, i kinda figured the "manipulating the outcome of the game" was universally considered cheating, even tho they are actively playing, so i didnt feel i needed to say that. besides, theres no achievement for getting nukes in any cod game, so its not boosting anything, except maybe someones ego. and if the lobby is full, then obviously the people who want the achievement have to actively participate to get their achievement. idk how much success one could have if you had a full lobby and everyone just sat there and did nothing. thus, not cheating. thats boosting. thats different. now the ones who arent getting the achievement, yea they can sit there and do nothing. but theyre not trying to get the achievement, so it doesnt even apply to them

and when youre doing NOTHING to get an achievement, thats basically cheating, or just not worth the achievement. its not called an achievement because you sat on your ass for a few hours (doing nothing) or just left your controller sitting there for god knows how long. then its not an achievement. then its just fucking pointless and a waste of time, especially for a game like halo. its not really THAT hard of a game to play/learn...
When you have to play a game for 50 hours just to hit a certain level for an achievement, that's not worth it at all. I'd rather be watching TV or a movie and letting it run and collecting credits. Since your definition of cheating involves not doing anything for an achievement I guess if you ever played Saw or Truth or Square you'd never complete them because they require you to do nothing for so long to get an achievement.
Cheating = gamesaving/system modding. There's nothing against XBL ToS for sitting in a MP game doing nothing. If game developers thought that was cheating then they could work in a kick out system.
Wow, i have found something me and AJ have in common lol, also other games that can be boosted kinda like this are Quake arena arcade, the darkness and couple others i cant name right now... Graw...
Uploaded with ImageShack.us 2 for 1 here, controller wont shut off and batteries wont die lol

Very creative. Although I just use a rubber band for the joysticks, instead of wrapping the cord all over the place.
