I'm loving it so far, picked it up today and played with Lou and ermacversion1 already. if you guys wanna do coop let me know I'll be on through the weekend.
we should also set up a boosting for the 4 characters being original and completing 5 quests in 4 player coop, anyone interested? and/or boost some of the achievements.
also I'll be on around 1 so just message me if you want to play dead island.

I wanted to love Dead Island. 15 hours later, I can tell you that I hate it. 5 years of development gave them enough time to "copy" elements of game play from other (much better) games in an attempt to emulate these titles. Whether you're talking about Left 4 Dead ,Borderlands, or the crafting of Dead Rising. Matchmaking is broken on Xbox LIVE. 30+ hours of fetch quests. The vast majority of the missions (at least in my experience) involve an NPC telling you they need something and that they actually expect you to fetch it. This is fun for the first hour or so, but it's novelty wears off very quickly. Especially considering the amount of time that you will spend backtracking. A narrative that quite frankly sucks ***. You stumble across an NPC that is dying of thirst. They ask you to fetch some water from across the island. You scratch your head and wonder what is wrong with the liquids at their feet or the water across the room. Enemies also respawn in exactly the same number and location every time you pass through an area. With all the backtracking needed you will memorize all this very quickly. For a game where the primary focus is beating zombies to death you figure that they would have spent more time refining this core element of gameplay. Sometimes your swinging weapon will decapitate a zombie that was clearly out of range of your attack and other times it will pass right through a zombie torso. Lots of frustrating combat missteps as result of this. Some people might enjoy this dumbed down borderlands for it's novelty effect but don't be suprised if this is in the 19.99 bin in a few months.

I have been enjoying this game very much. Although the missions can be tedious, and the higher level zombies are a pain in the ass, as well as fixing your badass weapons costing so damn much, it has its positives.
The game for what it is looks real good. When installed on the HD, I noticed a ton of texture loading issues as well as some kill your game glitches, (even a game corrupter glitch) but it still is not bad.
The matchmaking can be a ton better as when you beat the game, it is virtually impossible to get into a game. I am a level 36 and can't join anyone on chapter 1 now.
Having a weak story doesn't help either. However killing tons and tons of zombies makes up for it. The different environments are neat, but I wish there were more types of enemies.
All in all, my experience with Dead Island has been positive and I hope they improve upon this title with dlc and so on. Possibly patch the game to fix some of the bugs and also lower costs on weapon repairs, and give us more ammo for guns. Even though I listed negatives, the game is fun and will keep you glued. I probably have 30+hrs into it already. It was worth it too.
I recommend to everyone to take a stroll in zombie paradise at least once and then ask yourself, "Who do you Voodoo, B****!"

I love this game, bought it at midnight and have been playing it non stop since, just finished my first play through and working on my second to level up to 50,currently at 42, it is very repetative and tedious but it's so much fun that doesn't even bother me.
one of the downfalls is after you start your second playthrough all the random weapons you find in the chests and on the zombies after you kill them are very low level
