that's my dad's candidate right there...
That's bull. I was around all military people for the last 4 1/2 years and I can't say there's ONE that I think would actually make a good leader for the country. That's their JOB, not some great personality trait that makes them somehow better than someone else. That's like saying "I'm going to vote for Joe Schmo over there because he's a garbage man and I honor his commitment to trash removal." If you're going to vote, vote over issues and policies. Not over who has a vagina, or what jobs they've done in the past, or what color they are! Vote for ISSUES. A republican is a republican. Down the line they will be against abortion, against gay rights, and supporting tax cuts for the wealthy. That's how they vote. Even if a republican seems more in the center, they can't afford to alienate other republicans. So they stick with party policy. If you look over the issues, and you agree with what his stances are, you should vote for him. If you agree with Obama, vote for HIM. If you agree with an independent, vote for THEM. The absolute only way that our country is going to change is if people start thinking for themselves and voicing what they REALLY WANT from the country.
And the reason McCain isn't liked by republicans or democrats is stated pretty well here:
It's not because he's a better candidate, it's because he's been dishonest and doesn't stick to his beliefs. You can't get a sense of what his ACTUAL views are, except that he thinks he's better suited to be president.
You guys are SO WRONG. I don't see it. To me, when I look at her I see an ugly, snotty bitch under 10 lbs of makeup. And she so fits the image too, so concerned with her appearance and other people's opinions, yet oblivious to what's going on around her. PERFECT hockey mom, right? Of course I don't trust people with more than like- 3 kids. It means they're either insane, in denial, or too rich to know what other people have to deal with.
Well, TK, really, this is a biased articles. It's not an unfounded TABLOID article, and I have no idea if what the article says is true or not, but the words used to link together the quotes from people who were there are biased. It's a skewed article, but they all are. Hopefully it's the truth, and people will be able to recognize it as such, but the fact is, it works hard not just to show the truth of his past, but completely smear his reputation.
But I do agree with you. McCain is running purely by saying "look at me, I'm better than Obama." His whole campaign has taken people away from the issues, and put themselves squarely on him as a person. I think a lot of people in November, whether they vote for Obama or McCain, will be voting purely on who they LIKE better and that's just sad.

woh, woh, woh, i never said i was voting for anyone, or even based on anything. i have only voted once and it was for clinton. all i said was that i think i trust Obama less than McCain and agree with some of McCain's stances. i also said i applaud him because he served our country, never "vote for him cause he is a vet and pow". mark my words, if obama get's in, this country will be worse off than it is now, 6 years experience isn't enough to cut it for president.

What makes anyone think the president has the power?
I have always thought that the president is a scapegoat. Party affiliation is a subtext.
Give me someone who has the best interest of the country in mind. This election fails our best interest.

That just proves another point about this campaign that I just think is sad, the media is so against any conservative candidate.
Why has nobody brought up the fact Obama refuses to turn over a hard copy of his birth certificate?
Why has nobody written a story about how he could afford to always attend private schools his whole life when he came from a very modest family?
Why do you not see a story about how he bought his house in Chicago, which was way above his income level?
It is sickening the media does what they do. Look back at the 1992 election. The economy was once again a main issue, however the economy started to rebound in late August early September. The numbers where there to support claims of a rebound, but the press ignored it. They did not even mention the fact the economy was coming back to life. Because of this Clinton won and rode the Reagan wave for two terms.

McCain was born in the Canal Zone to American Citizens. He is a legal citizen. The Canal Zone was at the time US property.
Obama released his documents online. He will not release the hard copy to anyone. McCain did release a hard copy along with his full medical history.
Also is it strange the only company to authenticate Obamas birth certificate is Fact Check. They are a subsidiary of a company Obama sat on the board for.
Indonesia only allowed citizens to attend school when Obama moved there. He attended school, how is that possible? If he was considered a citizen of Indonesia then he looses his American citizenship. Why does he claim he was born at one hospital in Hawaii while his step sister claims he was born at another? Why does his grandmother who lives in Kenya claim he was born in Kenya?

I'll probably throw a monkey wrench in this whole issue, however.....
Every source we have for information is biased. I truly believe there are very few places that publish information where they don't want to - meaning that if I liked Obama - my newspaper would not publish any REALLY damaging articles about him. Same goes for McCain - problem is the media doesnt seem to like him
I believe 90% of the crap spewed about Obama is false or stretched. I already voted for McCain because I believe he is the lesser of the two evils. I voted for Bush both times and would do so again - the economy being mucked up is more than just foreign trade - (repeating a previous thread) it is americans spending money where they do not have it and money hungry companies taking advantage of such. I don't agree 100% with the war in Iraq, but we shouldn't just withdrawl until things are more settled.
I really do believe Obama wants to bring about good change and I don't think he is the devil. I just think he would go about it the wrong way. I think McCain will to, I think Bush would as well. I don't believe any president can "fix" the economy unless they totally start regulating businesses much more than they do. I don't think ANY of us really want that, maybe a little more regulation, but we don't want the government running the businesses. Then a bad president could mean REALLY bad stuff for the economy.
I also think everyone needs to get over this party crap - 8 years ago I would have claimed to be republican. I don't want anything to do with many "republicans" even though I'm ridiculously conservative in most ways.
The only way we fix our country is to stop looking at how we can make things better for ourselves and make things better for other people. I don't make anywhere near 250k a year, and I probably fall in the lower middle class or upper lower class based on income - but I have very little debt. Just my house. We need to slap a few regulations on the lending industry and we need to pay more money to educate people so they know how to use it/spend it/ etc.
We need to be willing to help out those who can't help themselves. We should spend more money on giving people the ability to get education and get people in the workforce instead of just giving away money. People are not all lazy slobs. Many were not given the benefit of a good education and had to drop out of high school for many reasons. I don't know too many places that pay high school dropouts well....
Things do need to change, but we need everyone to be on the same page for some real changes to happen....
I'm done - going back under my rock

A...if there was any REAL issue on citizenship it would have been pounced on by the Party leadership a long, long , long time ago. It's just part of the smear tactics.
