Xbox will never have a blu ray drive dude. Like whoever it was that said it, that mean Microsoft would have to pay Sony.....thats retarded.

QFT (quoted for truth) thanks sniper, I still dont see a terabyte drive making it to the console just for the fact that no one needs that much storage for a console....PCs are fine but keep them there.

Well yeah, who really needs a terabyte for a gaming console? That is just talking out your ass.
Re: Xbox 3? Xbox 720? Your thoughts?
i dont see a new console for awhile. the 5 year plan was bfore internet and especially updatable gaming, now they can do whatever they want by planning and dropping updates. so i just dont see the need for a new console until ooo idk 2012 or later. if they do it will get leaked longgggg bfore it does come out.
Re: Xbox 3? Xbox 720? Your thoughts?
i would be a fan of the handheld unit though

Not really. How is the average consumer gonna perceive it when the new system still has a dvd drive? A drive that may be obsolete (keywords, may be). If DVD's outsell blu ray like now, yeah a DVD drive would be the sure way to go. But it still needs a drive with a current format. Seeing as how there is not a new format to be revealed anytime soon, it's gonna come down to those two.

Terabyte harddrives would be great for the most of us who use their xbox for everything. Originals, tv shows, demos, games played from the hardrive. My 120 gig's space is shrinking, very slowly. I would love a terabyte hard drive or at the very least 520 or 750.

These are all possibilities, retarded or not. This is where the technology is heading, and where the it may very well be in 5 years.

I remember when the 8 Megabyte memory cards for Ps2 were big. It's very possible that the file sizes will get smaller and smaller during this generation but when they take the next step and make graphics ten times better and games ten times longer file sizes will go up again. And with Xbox 360 being a media player and all Hi Def movies take up a lot of space. hard drive size will definitely increase on the next system.

It's not a question of how much the cd or blu ray disc can hold, it's the media that is available for everyone to download. Sure files saves are in the kb's, but DLC can get fairly big. The question that was asked when microsoft announced their tv shows and movies to download, was how would anyone have enough room for all they want? And still find room for Demos and games saved to the hard drive, which are as much as 6 gigs. Then you have videos and all other kinds of content like music and photos. Why not have more room on there then you know what to do with? You say that microsoft wouldn't do that. But why wouldn't they? it's not like TB hardrives are expensive to market. Right now they go for less than 300 bucks. 5 years ago a 120 g hardrive was around there too. Technology evolves too fast to discount a tb harddrive in an xbox.

And the file sizes will only get bigger not smaller. Thus says the evolution of technology.

Yeah but if CD's could hold more, then it will help the fact of large memory. But i will have to agree with you that if Terabytes get cheaper, then yeah they would throw them in there.

I think it would help Microsoft certainly without having to go the blu ray route if more of the games could fit on the dvd. CD's can't hold more than a gig of info while DVD's can hold as much as 12 times that of a CD. That way future games can be bigger and still look breathtaking without having to use multiple discs.

I think it'll be another 5 years anyway, unless they decide to unveil a new one to stay ahead of Sony. I can gaurantee that there is a team in Redmond working on a new console.

Out of any new changes, I hoped they learned from all of the hardware mistakes of the 360. Better soldering to prevent the RROD. Smaller, quieter, better cooling.

the only reason the RROD happens is cause microsoft is retarded when it came to planning the 360. they had it built n stuff, and were putting the disc drive in but it was too large. so they made the fan smaller, so it over heats alot faster. thus resulting in the RROD...

or maybe microsoft is really ingenious, and they made the RROD happen on purpose. they knew people would go out n buy more consoles n what not if the RROD were to happen to them...so hmm...

that raises some questions
