I was wondering if any of you guys have heard about the virus that is goin around on live! I got a message from one of my friends says that it came from a friend request and it gave the 3 red lights of death! I dont remember what the tag was but i would know it if i saw it!

Is the gamertag "j newtron" by chance? I guarantee this is completely fabricated. Someone just created a chain message to try and get people worked up. There's no possible way a friend request would do anything to your console. The friend request goes from the Xbox Live servers to you, and not from console to console.

Ya theres no virus. The 3 red lights came from what is happening to about 60% of people who've bought 360's from the first production line. Or cause by wouldnt you beleive it? Dust. yup thats right dust actually can cause this to happen by destroying some of the inner hardware of your system.
By the way thats what the 3 red lights mean. Some hardware in your system has malfunctioned.

no its true my friend could do it if he wanted but he won't because he would get fines from microsoft. it may not cause 3 rings of death but it can get people removed from xbox live and/or hack their account.
