Unattributed Quote:
The most striking part is that everything we found clustered around video game use is negative.
Unattributed Quote:
A national study has found that people who play games regularly are more likely to take drugs and drink alcohol
Who says these are negative?
Honestly, I can see the bit about social relationships being true in some cases. Games like World of Warcraft have an uncanny way of commandeering all of a player's attention and act as a substitute for social interaction. But for most people who have healthy social relationships and can strike a balance, gaming actually helps facilitate more social activity.

Lol, they surveyed University students? Those are the type of people who are three times more likely to drink and "smoke cannabis". Definitely agree with Boobs; games, for the most part, make people more socially interactive. Although there are a few times I've ignored my girlfriend while playing games

Surveys will tell you anything. They are like made up statistics. Furthermore video game addiction centers make me LMAO. Seriously people will give you therapy for anything you are willing to pay them for.

i have to agree with boobie when it comes to WOW.
and i have to agree with juggs when it comes to them surveying college students, hahaha!
personally, yeah, i used to "smoke cannabis"
this was long, long before i ever played video games of such caliber.
i started smoking cigarettes because they made me light headed and helped with my insomnia.
i started drinking... er... well out of boredom i guess, lol. started raiding my step-dad's stash at a young age.
not related to video games!!! nuh uh!
if anything, playing games actually distracts me from drinking and smoking more.

Yeah this is total BS.
Playing games makes it damn hard to drink and do drugs. Except WoW and other MMOs I guess. It's pretty easy to have a lit doob in your mouse hand and nurse a bottle of whiskey.
But Xbox games? It's freaking hard. Once heavy psychotropics kick in, your accuracy in music games goes down the tube, and sometimes you get so high you forget what you're doing in an RPG and have to go around asking every NPC in the world wtf you're supposed to do next.
Now if they narrowed this study down a little bit, it might actually provide some answers. For instance, amphetamines and/or high-grade coke increase action game and shooter performance nearly 35%!

i'd believe it!
there's nothing more frustrating than playing an RPG deep into the night, and waking up the next day and finding yourself in an entirely new dungeon/town. you can miss 10% of the story EASY.
