I agree. People don't always realize that there are aspects of socialism in our capitalist economy. I don't think that pure capitalism could work... I don't know that it's ever been tried though.
Yeah, I can't think of any examples.
From the very beginning the United States has had a mixed economy. Just look at Alexander Hamilton's Bank of the United States. I'm not sure when it was created but I know it was within George Washington's presidential terms. It shows how early the government started major intervention in the economy.

I admit defeat for now, I'll get you eventually Mini !!! But the idea of socialism is good, it's just the things that happen from what people do with it. It only works small groups mostly (tribes and families), so I think it's a little unfair to say Socialism = FAIL, because it doesn't. The idea is great, what happens is kind of bad (greedy bastards! ).
there are alot of "great idea's". It doesn't mean anything. What matters is results and action. The path to ruin is paved with "good intentions".

This doesn't really make sense in context. I'm pretty sure the saying is that the path to hell is paved with good intentions, and I doubt all socialists end up in hell. Besides which, if you ask most religious people America is on the path to hell, and we're capitalist.
But seriously, the path to anywhere is paved with good intentions... I mean almost everything starts with good intentions, whether the outcome is good or bad.
this is true.
results and actions are true as well. it all ties together, depending on how you look at it. and who the hell bumped this anyway? lol. someone in the OP said something about socialism being forced in this situation. care to explain that? they were offered the opportunity and they took it.
of course, this is all assuming that the story is real.
even if it isn't, it's something to think about.

to add, even people who are clearly doing the wrong thing have good intentions, they're definitions of good are just not the same as everyone elses

this is where ethics n morals would kick in.
who is to say what is right and wrong.
who is to judge what is fair and unfair.
all people have different mentalities.
what one person may see as "good" others will see it as "bad"
take drugs for example. who said they were bad? if its because of the addiction n the damage it does to ur body, then shouldn't caffeine also be illegal. i know this quote might be irrelivent, but it has the right idea, just apply it to something apart from beauty. "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
