this thread was started loong ago....partly because some other members and i...kinda got into a argument involving religion....i think....
this thread died of kind of quickly since not many people want to talk about religion, evolution etc... since arguments usually tend to evolve from topics like this.
after a while the conversation turned to the wii for some reason.
this was all a long time ago so i don't exactly remember.
oh and u still suck at sniping at COD4....still no where as good as me mwuahahaha lol

Sweet we should start to discuss our new association TAVGAA (The Atheist Video Gamer Association of America)
No, the most logical choice is the AAVGA ( American Atheist Video Game Alliance )
Wasn't the entire point of that episode that people are dicks and that they will argue and fight pointless wars regardless of whether they have a "god" to justify their actions?
The Wii thread

Wow. I just looked back on this thread and LOL'd hard
My feelings are that God is basically just people looking for something more. The universe that we live in is linear and everything is effected by rules. People look for something to make it more interesting looking for something outside this and beyond death.
Evolution and big bang are more realistic, maybe more boring but that tends to be the trend. I mean people that believe in magic wizards demons etc, can be considered crazy, but yet god is a more accepted idea....

well...religion is a touchy subject so i wont go to into detail w/ my thoughts...but i will say this
i would say there there is some sort of Supreme Being out there. now, if you wanna call him God, Allah, Buddha, Zeus, or whatever, thats your thing. theyre all the same thing: one supreme ruler over everything. cause i mean really, theres gotta be SOMEONE out there runnin the show, but there really is no way to prove it...

For a while I was a firm atheist, scoffing at the possibility of anything spiritual. I've recently realized that those strong beliefs were just as unsubstantiated as any religion's. Now I am firmly agnostic with a slight belief in atheism.
I've accepted that the existence or nonexistence of a deity is impossible to know. However, based purely on speculation, I don't believe a god exists.
There are an infinite number of things that don't exist, but there are only a finite number of things that do. My conclusion is that the existence of a supreme being is extremely unlikely, but I can't rule it out.

wow wow wow! lol
and i was just about to hit the hay.
i can't really get into this discussion right now, jackson, but i'm curious to know why you believe a supreme being is extremely unlikely.
nobody can prove god, but you'll never prove he isn't here.
i can't just throw it all out there and say "yeah..... this is here. just because."
the planet earth. the people who inhabit it. smiles. laughs. our brains telling our bodies to do this and that with no hesitation. trees. the ocean. waking up in a shitty mood because you have to work. getting home with a smile on your face when you see your family.
there's no reason for me to believe that this is all just a part of evolution.
or whatever exactly you have in mind. it just doesn't make sense. and please forgive me in advance if someone throws the big bang theory into this.
i will laugh!

I love that bit right there. I have to include (maybe reworded..) that next time I'm talking about religion. Its a very good way of stating things.

I'll put this right out there I don't beleive in a god or gods or whatever, one should believe in themselves, besides if you were a god would you what people to accomplish things by themselves, and be there when they really do need help like say a supernova tomorrow?
Religion is one of the most use motivator of war but, why do all religions preach peace?
If I was to be judged by whoevers god I'm sure I'd pass, oh wait i'm judging myself and that should be good enough for me.
People just need to believe in themselve I guess is what i'm saying and not in a higher power judge?
Thats my stance and I'm sticking to it!

It goes back to that other statement I made: "There are an infinite number of things that don't exist, but there are only a finite number of things that do."
Whenever there is no evidence for or against the existence of something, nonexistence is more likely.

We are biological creatures. Emotions are useful and help ensure propagation of our species. Evolution is undoubtedly logical. I don't think that can easily be refuted.
The world and our experiences can certainly seem magical at times, but it's important we remain cognizant of our skewed perspectives. We're not independent from ourselves or the physical world. If evolution is correct, our very consciousness is the product of evolution. While we may look at the world and desire meaning, it's impossible to know exactly how our interpretation is affected by evolution itself.
