I try to avoid politics as much as possible. The persona we see of politicians is too superficial to truly judge their ability as a leader.

Cases can always be made either way for every politician. For example, Obama once referenced Canada's prime minster as a president. Taken alone, that can make Obama seem like a complete idiot. In reality, that is an understandable slip-up.

Our presidential candidates are more like actors than anything else. Their goal is to display all the right qualities and totally eliminate common human error from the mediums in which we see them. As long as they play their part well enough, they get the job.

Instead of blaming the politicians, although they may be deceitful power-hungry assholes, I can't help but feel like the system is what needs to change.

Let's all join together as a nation, and fight this plague of Republican stupidity, vote against the Republican nominee next year!

One Republican is not the same as another Republican. I don't agree with Bush's decisions; However, I do agree with most Republican principles. Try voting for the person, not the party.

those were some good statements

I don't do a class in Current Events, and not learn anything. lol As for candidates, Obama is alright, better than Hilary Clinton, but that's not saying much. In my opinion, the only REAL candidates in this election on either side was Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. Both say exactly what they believe, and for a Republican candidate, Ron Paul has an excellent foreign policy (not so good domestic though). Dennis Kucinich, say what you may about him, but he has the best policies of ANYONE in the race or congress for that matter (Russ Feingold may be the except as his equal in the Senate).

I don't have much hope for Kucinich, mostly because the mainstream media completely ignores anything he does because he is "too liberal" (you obviously have to be a centralist in this country). I would love him to win the election, and would vote for him, if I could, but will vote for whoever the Republican candidate isn't in next year's election (and for a new Colorado Senator!!! Hopefully Pete Coors doesn't run again!)

why should we shut it if we're over 18 and bitching about Bush....I'm 19 and I don't like it when people tell me what to do meg, what;s the deal? If a person is over 18 and doesn't like bush they have a right to bitch about him, freedom of speech meg that goes for everyone.

If I understood her correctly, She's not saying you can't complain -- she knows you can speak or write whatever you want. She's saying that it's your own doggone fault if you're over eighteen because you're all the ones who voted him into office. She wasn't intending to infringe your freedom of speech.

I turned 18 the year of the election and was proud to vote. I'm 21 know and have been voting in any election I could. Maybe its just beause I care about politics, or maybe its because I want a change, but I can't comprehend how so many of my peers can be so apathetic when it comes to change.

I work for NYPIRG, it's ne New York Public Intrest Research Group. We put up posters around election time that say: Bad politicians are elected by good people who don't vote.

I truly believe that is the case, don't take your vote for granted, it matters.

Now to get off my soapbox and tell you how I feel about Bush.

I honestly can't condemn Bush, I almost feel sorry for him to an extent. Bush is nothing but a puppet, he is doing what the Neocons are telling him. Bush has the power and he is getting a bad rap for a lot of the mistakes his hand was forced into. Now I'm not trying to martyr Bush in any means, but if is as unintelligent as his public speaking lead us to believe, then I think his simplying going on his vindictions and what the others are telling him to do.

Thats really all I want to say without going into deep, but I love to discuss politics and I am definately not afraid to speak my mind, so I will be back to continue the discussion.

Keeping something from us? Anything in particular, or are you just a fan of conspiracy theories?
