If I preorder a game at EB Games or Gamestop, how much of a deposit do I have to put down or do I have to pay everything before hand?

Ok, cool. I've got another question. I'm not allowed to buy Mature games because I'm 16, right? I think the limit is 17. Halo 3 is still rating pending, so I should be able to preorder it and have someone older than me pick it up once it's out and rated?

Possibly. I am pretty sure that Best Buy has a message pop up that requires ID, even for pre-orders of games that are "known" to be coming in at 'M'. However, I am sure you could pull tis off at EB or Gamestop.

I just don't get the whole pre-ordering thing on video games. I have yet to walk into a store during the week of release of a game and not find a game that just came out.
I can see maybe pre-ordering hardware, but games, I just have never seen a shortage on them.
But, anyway, good luck with it Pasta, I wonder if the Gamestop / EB games stores will actually be able to receive all of the pre-ordered items. I read about what happened with all of the shortages on all of the new system pre-orders they had.

Actually, I did decide not to preorder for that same reasoning. I doubt I won't be able to find the game when it's released. Besides, I won't be able to buy it myself since it'll definitely be mature. What's the point of letting the retailer cash in and collect interest early, even if it is only $5.
I can understand preordering consoles if you preorder asap. If I had preordered my 360, I wouldn't have had to watch Fantastic Four a total of 4 times in Circuit City.

Pre-order comes into play when a street date falls on a Tuesday, but the main retailers don't actually get it until Wednesday. EB/Gamestop usually get them in on the street date and release them immediately. BB, Circuit, Wally World many times wait until their merchandie crew moves them to the sales floor.
