I love them both. Oblivion is the only launch game I still own, from 4 years ago! If you like freeform sandbox RPGs set in an alternate reality, both are great choices. Oblivion is set in medieval times, so only melee weapons are avaiable, but you can cast magic. Gameplay is very similar, and character creation and growth are almost identical. I would recommend the game to everyone with the slightest interest.

The only issue I had with this game was the part of the main quest line that forced me to level up to 20. I had already beat the DLC and every side quest in the game as a level 1 and being forced up to 20 for the mainquest kinda grinds my gears. When you level up in oblivion every monster in the game also levels up - I'm glad they did away with that bullshit in Fallout.

QFT.
i didn't really mind the leveled enemies as much as i hated the leveled loot though. that shit really pissed me off.

Yeah guys! There's nothing I like better than to get lost in Fallout and end up somewhere that I'm not supposed to be and get owned and killed. That was great. That is one of the reasons I don't like Fallout.
and Nemesis, I'm not sure what you're talking about. The last time I ran through to get 1250, I was level 4. IDK why you think you had to get to level 20.

I really would like to know what people think of this game, I'm considering getting it because i heard its similar to fallout3 which i really enjoyed.
It is much similar to Fallout 3, with the exception of the storyboard, fighting, weapons, and the chicks. Oh yeah and you get to fight Gods...0_o

so.... basically you can't stand a challenge?
oooohhhh yeah, i went there. sorry LOL!
leveled enemies and loot is just stupid. what's the point of creating a character, working on your stats and buying new gear when you don't have to? i'd much rather have an open world to explore, knowing that if i venture into the wrong region i can get slaughtered if i'm not prepared.
and half of the time, i'll keep trying anyway, just to know i did it at level 4 when it's meant for level 20. that's just fun gaming to me, personally.
with oblivion, you don't even see half of the enemies until you're a certain level. i find that completely absurd, and i know i'm not alone. how can you guys appreciate that?

The part of the main questline ( 2 achieves from the end ) where you have to talk to a Statue to get some item from it- and there are people worshipping around it the statue. The statue told me something about only being able to help level 20's and it wouldn't let me progress as a level 1... is there a loophole around that part?

There is a statue like that for every god and goddess in the Elder Scrolls world. There are 15 of them. Each one has a different level requirement from 2-20+. When you carry out their tasks, you are given a Daedric Artifact.
You, my friend, found one of the Upper level Daedric quests. Azura is the one that I did. Her level requirement is 2. Sheogorath's quest is also level requirement 2.

yea really, i love that too. i know that, even if i am a level (almost) 20, Mole Rats will still be at level 2. Bloatflies are still level 2-3 (idk, they take one hit to kill. mole rats usually do too) radscorps are about 5-7, giant radscorps are about 10-11. i love how they stay there. enclave are still like 16-18 (in packs of 4+, they might as well be a 20 as one character) i dont like enemies who level with you. that totally takes the fun out of a game. if theres no point in leveling why do it?
