By the way, I acknowledge that this thread violates the forced cessation of political discussion here, but seeing as the election is over, I think it's time to remove that restriction.
Please, no one get too belligerent or hostile here. Anyone who abuses this privilege will be banned.

I think we all can be civil enough to have this discussion without it going over the line. No matter what you believe its over and a President has been picked and it is Obama.
There are alot of things that I don't agree with both McCain and Obama, but ultimately McCain said it best in his speech last night, America has spoken loud and clear. A clear winner was picked.
Senator McCain's speech was gracefully and eloquent. I thought that if that man that gave the speech was the same man who ran the campaign i may have voted for him.
We have learn a lot about our country and ourselves and the world we live in now. Let's us not let this lesson pass us by.

So much spin has been put on what obama wants to do that a lot of people really just don't know what to think. If he wasn't your guy chances are all you have heard is what the REP's wanted you to hear.
Just let things settle down a bit and I think you will see that what he wants to do is not that big of a deal. His Tax plan is just going back to what we had under clinton. We have always had a progressive Tax code so nothing really new hear. Just the rich whining and I'm not feeling very sorry for them.
The rich did just fine back then, I'm sure they will be OK now. Bush's tax cut's for the fat cat's is what got us in this mess as the greed spiraled out of control and regulation was almost none!!!
And I don't know if any of you are catching some of the story's from over seas, but there is already a HUGE differance in are World Image...and it's only day One!!! THAT'S AMAZING!!!

September 2008
35 troops killed in Iraq
40 people shot and killed in Detroit, MI
How come the media didn't spin that one?

I just want to point out that redistribution of wealth is greed too. Both sides are influenced by greed.
While I believe in economic liberty, which is a Republican ideal, I don't mind a small swing towards restraining economic freedom. I remember reading recently that the United States has one of the top three gaps between the incomes of the rich and the poor. That's not healthy. But it's also immoral to forcefully take someone's money and give it to someone else.
I think the key is a balance. We're on a swing towards the Democratic party. Before long, as a nation, we'll probably be swinging back towards the Republican party. The result is an average that allows for enough capital and economic incentive to spur the economy, but also prevents fiscal extremes.

I'm just afraid that before I know it, I personally, will move out of the middle class and into a higher tax bracket without an increase in wage.
This year I will lose money compared to what I made last year. I fear getting penalized next year with higher taxes on the same amount, or even less than what I will make this year.
I can say that I am skeptical at best with the democratic solution to the financial predicament that this country is in.
Once again though, I hold fast to the belief that neither party wants this country to fail, and there is not an overnight solution.
