Y2K wasn't a virus, it was a belief that at the stroke of midnight that all computer systems internal clocks would for some reason roll back to the year 1900, I don't know exactly how people believed this but that's what Y2K was.
It's happening again in 2038.
Many computer systems, including Xbox America, use unix timestamps, which are really big numbers representing the number of seconds since 1970, to store dates. The problem is that these are commonly stored as signed 32-bit integers, which only allow up to 2,147,483,647 seconds after the epoch, which is sometime in 2038. Anything beyond this date either wouldn't be able to be stored, or would incorrectly represent a time in the past.
In computer systems that set dates in the future, the problem will happen well before 2038 because those dates still can't be represented. So no one go creating an event for 2039 and fuck things up.
