Netflix feature

I gotta say a few weeks ago I was looking at ways to tighten up the budget and really thought about cutting back or scrapping Netflix all together.

But since trying it out on the 360, there's no way I'm gonna do it. It ran unbelievably smooth. It actually took me longer to log into Xbox Live than to pick a movie and start streaming it. And there was only a 5 second lag at one point in the film b/c my signal strength dipped a little.

I know the movie catalog isn't great now, but I'm impressed so far with this feature.

Its a nice feature but like you said the catalog isn't very impressive right now. Anyone know how long it takes for new movies to be uploaded to instant or if they are actually trying to expand their catalog or not?

Yea, I am totally digging the Netflix feature. As for their list of movies, I am not sure of the exact technicalities of it, but I remember reading before the feature was released that, in order for a new movie to be streamed, they had to get explicit rights and pay royalties; if they want to avoid that, the movie has to be out for over three years, and meet a few other criteria too. Thanks to their agreement with Starz, they can also stream any movie that is available to watch on the Starz channel, which is why we can get things like No Country For Old Men even though it is newer. Hopefully they will expand now with the plethora of people accessing the feature.

Me too. Was never a Netflix person but after checking out on the 360 its great might just keep it

I've always loved netflix!! And its awesome on the 360,cept I did my free trial & cancelled,& it charged me $18.95.still. Im not too happy with that.

I think Netflix is nice and all, but I just can't see myself sitting there at my xbox 360 / monitor watching a movie rather than playing a game.

I just don't get the whole push to make these video game systems into home entertainment hubs, as I like to watch movies every now and then, but I would rather not have to turn on my video game system to do it. But hey, to each his own, there are people I suppose that enjoy it, and have at it I say, have it indeed! Glad to see MS is making it work for you.

havent tried it yet (stupid gamestop) but if/when i get a chance i might check it out by usin the free trial

Since I got my new TV I've had to use my 360 as a DVD player, I'll probably check this out in a month or so.

I'm loving the Netflix feature too. There are a lot of tv shoes available. It's great.

As for the push for being entertainment hubs, I'm loving that too. The alternative is to have to buy another device, like an Apple TV. I rather have one piece of hardware.

i want tv shoes for x-mas! this must be the greatest invention of all time! now when i get bored, i can just stare at my feet and veg out to wife swap or cops!

No problem! I can't believe you haven't heard of them yet. I have a few pairs. I've got my formal tv loafers, casual tv boat shoes and then a pair of tv running shoes. It's great for school. Just kick up your feet and you never have to struggle through a boring lecture again.

but the casual tv shoes for just chillaxin work pretty well :yes:
