I've heard of Goldfinger, I'm more of a hard rock/metal kind of a guy, an, well for lack of a better term interesting, band that I heard for the first time is Psychostick, they consider themselves "HumorCore." Walls of Jericho, another metal band with a female lead singer, they're pretty good, 36 Crazy Fists, and Five Finger Death Punch is pretty good also.
Also, on the softer side of things, Dispatch, some really great stuff by them, they're most known for a cover of Piano Man.
I like beer because its good, I drink beer because I should. Yeah I know of Psychostick. 36 Crazy Fists are pretty kick ass too.

I've heard Goldfinger, they are like Ska, arn't they?
I listen to a lot of stuff that people probably do know, like beneath the sky, emarosa, underoath
Beneath the Sky... Aren't they from Cincinnati?
Another one I just thought of, Drive-By Truckers. They're southern rock/country. I don't know anyone around here that likes that genre though
