Me and a friend were just talking about how he liked 3Oh!3 before they became popular. The only one I could think of for me is Theatre of Tragedy. They're a Norwegian gothic metal band that uses the "beauty and the beast" vocal style. Only person I can think of that would know of 'em is Rev.

Another one that I know for sure that no one knows would be Phat Tony, he's a rapper that I've known from forums and shit since 05. Then of course I know absolutely no one that has heard of Murs, Atmosphere and Jurassic 5.

So yeah, do I just like unpopular music or does anyone else have bands/groups like this?

i have to admit most of the stuff i like is mainstream.
i just don't stumble upon alot of underground stuff for myself.
i do like ohGr though. not sure if that rings a bell.

they're pretty technoee/noisee though.
i don't think most of the people here aren't into that sort of thing.

I've heard of Goldfinger, I'm more of a hard rock/metal kind of a guy, an, well for lack of a better term interesting, band that I heard for the first time is Psychostick, they consider themselves "HumorCore." Walls of Jericho, another metal band with a female lead singer, they're pretty good, 36 Crazy Fists, and Five Finger Death Punch is pretty good also.

Also, on the softer side of things, Dispatch, some really great stuff by them, they're most known for a cover of Piano Man.

Beneath the Sky... Aren't they from Cincinnati?

Another one I just thought of, Drive-By Truckers. They're southern rock/country. I don't know anyone around here that likes that genre though

Murs is actually pretty well known. Ever since he was featured on iTunes as an indie rapper he's sort of exploded. Just look at his plays on his myspace.

I just discovered Doxx Friday night and he's pretty sick. He's definitely unknown.

Awesome OneShot, I also like 3 inches of blood. There first cd is amazing.

A few other lesser known bands that I am into are:

As Blood Runs Black (a metal band from california, these dudes used to crash on my couch when they would play texas shows)

Silent Civilian (this band has the same singer/guitarist from Spineshank although they are much heavier)

Mr. Bungle (now defunct, no band in the world sounds like Mr. Bungle, features some of Mike Patton's greatest work)
