mine would have to be all the historical stuff i think. putting that dish on the washington monument, retrieving the DoI, etc. too hard to pick just one of course.
jen and i are even thinking of taking a trip to DC just so i can compare it with fallout. LOL.
Noah I pretty much live in DC, about 20 minutes south, and I would have to say, Fallout has it down pretty well. The buildings may not be the exact distance, yada yada, but in terms of what buildings are where coresponding to other buildings, it is pretty accurate. Now outside of DC, like where the Arlington Library is, I'm not too sure how accurate that part is. But Bethesda did a great job of mapping the game.

i'm really glad to hear that.
if they do anywhere near as well with the pitt mapping i'll be in heaven.

yea fallouts DC and the real DC is pretty accurate. the only REAL difference (that ive noticed) is the white house. in real life, its not up some stairs. its on the ground, w/ a fence like 50+ feet away. thats the only main difference ive noticed. tbh, i went to the lincoln memorial in the game on purpose just because that was one of the main things i didnt see while in dc....lol
btw, does anyone know if Broken Steel is going to be modeled after anything? anchorage was modeled for alaska, the pitt pittsburgh, and the wasteland dc, but what is broken steel modeled after?
i guess it really won't matter, for we get a level cap raise and we can free roam after the main quest....but..wait...
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilerwhat if you sacrifice yourself at the end when you make the decision on what to do? could you still free roam or would you have to sacrafice lyons or put the fev thing in there to free roam? eh, i guess we'll figure out..

To Taco:
Broken Steel will not be modeled after a location. The plot of the DLC is additional quests relating to the Brotherhood of Steel destroying the Enclave once and for all, right in DC. I don't know any specifics, but that's about the basics of the plot.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilerAs for if you choose to sacrifice yourself at the end of the game, Bethesda has confirmed that you will be able to keep playing, though they haven't announced how yet.
And about the White House, in the game, it got hit directly with a bomb. So that's probably why it doesn't look much like the real one.

oh ok then. i just wasnt totally sure on that
well, that could be a possibility. but in fallout 3, it has stairs leading up to it. thats the main difference. the stairs. but eh, they got alot of the other stuff right....im not 100% sure, but i beleive theyve got the memorials in pretty much the right place. i wouldnt be totally sure, but it doesnt matter. its an awesome game either way
Re: Fallout 3

well... fallout takes place well after 2077 or whatever, right?
something like that.
no, wait that still doesn't make sense.
i was gonna' say maybe they built the stairs before the bombs but....
pretty sure the ground around the white house is totally flat, right?
Re: Fallout 3
03/14/09 9:43 am | #82
yes. its very flat. so the stairs being built would be kinda difficult...
and if im correct fallout 3 is in like, 2277....something like that....
Re: Fallout 3

Fallout 3 takes place in 2277, and the Great War happened in 2077. So it happens 200 years after the White House was hit directly by an atom bomb. A lot could've changed in those 268 years.
Re: Fallout 3

that is a good point, 1337.
Re: Fallout 3
03/14/09 1:23 pm | #85
wait, if it was hit DIRECTLY by an atom bomb, surely it wouldve crumbled to bits? but then again, that still leaves 200 years to rebuild it...but really, who would want to fix it? the president is in a fortified bunker on the complete opposite side of the map from the white house...but then again, there was probably a few presidents before eden, and maybe some of them were in the white house and decided to rebuild it??
hmm....i think we're trying to go too far into this...

I can't pick just one part. I loved the whole thing. I like the freedom that it gives you. This is the first single player game to hold my attention for so long. My evil character had 33+ hours logged. My good character was at 45+ hours. My neutral is at 15+ hours right now. I can't fully explain as to why, but I am completely addicted to this game.

i was too, man. my first character, who started as evil and ended as neutral, clocked 100 hours. my second character, who started good and ended as neutral clocked around 20.

well ive only had one character (i had a 2nd character, but that failed because i forgot to have another save besides the autosave, and lost pretty much everything except the save it made just before you exit the vault) so ive got like basically one character..i think he's got like around 60 hours? idk...
anchorage was pretty fun...but im not sure what my fave part is....theres too many things to choose from
