Well this morning at 9am, I had my MRI.
It is a scary thing, you go in there not a claustrophobic, and then go into that tube, and want to start hollering like a scared school girl in a horror movie.
It was pretty painful to not move for 30min straight, but it was done properly with no issues.
Now I just have to wait 5 more days to find out what action, the doctor will want to pursue. Personally, I think things have gotten worse, and I think the MRI will show more problems than what we already may think. Oh well, I guess.
Just wanted to give the update!
Also wanted to thank Durtie again for sending me his copy of Modern Warfare 2! It means a lot man, You have made me very happy!

Well I have not updated you folks in a long time and thought I would.
After the events of my first MRI, I went back to my Orthopedic doctor and he analyzed the MRIs and said there is no longer any sign of a fracture, but looks like either a herniated disc or scar tissue may be pressuring the nerves. He looked it over and said I should have an injection in my spine, on the L5-S1 area. We scheduled the injection for 12/15.
On 12/15, I went and got my back injection, which was a VERY PAINFUL experience. They injected me with a mixture of Steroids and Cortisone. I got the strongest formula they could offer. When I was finished with the injection, I seemed to be able to stand up correctly. The next day, I felt okay, not too bad, decided not to take the Morphine they had prescribed me and tried to drive my vehicle. I could do it, but only lasted for the morning. That evening, the pain came back with a vengeance.
I, no longer wanted to take the Morphine and began to withdrawal badly. I had the shakes, temper, bad stomach ache, chills, diarrhea and couldn't really urine well. My back was in severe pain, especially having to force myself to get to the restroom quickly and all.
On 12/29, I went to see the O.Doctor and told him the results. He acted surprised that nothing worked, and prescribed me a nerve medicine called Gabapentin (which SUCKS and made my pain worse) and he also recommended that I be setup to the main surgeon. He also recommended ANOTHER MRI with Contrast, this time. My appointments were scheduled for 1/12 for the MRI and 1/14 to talk to the surgeon.
During the time of waiting and because the Gabapentin did not work, my fiance's sister gave me some Tramadol, which is a Narcotic kind of like morphine and Hydrocodone, however, there is no Opium/Heroin in them. They work great in helping me relax, and relieving some pain, better than morphine ever did.
So on 1/12, I got the second MRI, in which during the mid point, I had to be injected with the Contrast substance in my arm. The lady grabbed my right arm, tied it up, and proceeded to find the vain, stuck me and freakin missed, and still injected the substance, which hurt like a mofo. The other nurse grabbed my left arm and did the same thing and missed the vain there, but luckily did not inject. So I finally said to grab my hand and get the vain there, and sure enough, it worked.
On 1/14, I saw Dr. Castillo who is the Main surgeon at Albuquerque Orthopedics. He looked over the MRI, and could clearly see that there was a major herniation in my L5-S1 disc. He also looked over the previous and MRI and could see the same thing, and said that the second MRI was not necessary (go figure, right) He recommended either another injection in the back, or surgery. He said Surgery, would have the highest success rate, but would also weaken the disc even further as it would be my second surgery on the same disc. So I got scheduled for surgery and the Dr. gave me more Tramadol, until I get my surgery.
So I have some more appointments coming up. On 2/1, I am scheduled to go in at 8am for PT, 9am I have to talk to the doctor about the procedure of the surgery, 10am I have to do pre-registration for my room for the surgery. February 3rd, 2010 is actually my surgery date, and hopefully everything goes well. I am anxious to see my results, and get back on my feet and back to working. It has been too long, and I am tired of staying in my room already, lol.
I will keep you folks updated as things happen!

This reminds me of what happened to my sister in law. She had an infection in her lower back. Right now, she's better than ever, so I know what it's like not being able to get around the house and all. Don't worry too much man, your chances at getting better are pretty good.
I hope you get better!

Well it seems i am only a day away from surgery, Tonight at midnight I have to fast until i get my surgery. I have to be at the hospital at 6am, Wednesday morning and will be put into surgery by 7:30am.
I admit I am nervous, as anything could go wrong (worst of them would be; not waking up from the anestshia) but I am hopeful everything will go smooth. I will be spending the night, wednesday night and SHOULD be released thursday but if there is complications in swelling, I may stay until friday.
I just wanted to give you folks an update, and as soon as I recover and am able to get online, i will update you folks again!
Thanks again for all of the great support!

Good luck Junior!
But I don't think not waking up would be the worst. I think waking up and being paralyzed the rest of your life would.
Either way, good luck have fun! We're rootin' for you.
